I get this strange feeling they're not going to present a new product...

"Major announcement" sounds like: we are merging with R or Y.

Or: thank you and good bye.

Hope I'm wrong!
Paul: Don't be nervous.

It does not have to be negative. Maybe merging with Yamaha or Roland is not good, because less competition is mostly not good for end users in the end, although it can result in some nice merged products.

What would really be cool is not a real merge, but only a development merge, that development/analysis will cause multiple companies to benefit from it. You see it a lot in companies that heavily depend on new development. Reduced R&D cost and the results being used in multiple devices.

I agree with curvebender - 'major announcement' sounds to me that it's something at a corporate level and not product related.

But could be wrong; and wouldn't be the first time! lol

 Don't you remember the last time a number 9 was posted on the forums ?
We got ages out of trying to predict what it was.

Maybe Roland has decided that instead of going through the trouble of building a KRONOS competitor it is easier to simply merge with KORG and make the KRONOS work for them.8)
Sounds interesting, some Korg converted Roland or Yamaha EXIs.
I wouldn't mind the JP-80 as a new engine for the KRONOS.

Yes, and well over 100 pages filled with speculation.
But I somehow doubt if posting the number 9 will have the same effect.:D

If this was a product, wouldn't we see it linked at the other Korg sites?

Then again, you could make the same argument if it was corporate, too.

I'm inclined to think it's a corporate-related, non-product specific, type of announcement.

Not even an M50/M3 replacement?

But I don't know that would qualify as a major announcement. An analog synth with plenty of knobs/buttons/keys would be, as would some kind of merger/restructuring. But it's probably going to be something mundane, like a tuner.

Real (analog) ms-20, poly six or mono/poly?

Now I would buy that!

Yeah, I remember. But I thought you may have some inside information about the upcoming announcement and the number 9 figured into it....and probably not in a good way since you added your little twisted evil emoticon below it!

I do get quite a few emails about getting more than 9 inches in the lower regions. Maybe something along those lines?

News just in that there will be a home cabinet version of the Korg PA3x 61 keyboard available late September. With polished black stand sides, this instrument will grace any home. Due to have its world wide preview on Tuesday 4th September at the Keyboard Cavalcade festival.
