I really don't understand the purpose of the poll, except to allow people one more chance to complain about the editor.
-- We know Korg mentioned the editor as part of the original Kronos marketing materials
-- We know Korg will release it
-- We know Korg has already missed some stated delivery dates
-- We know it is way overdue
-- We should also know that complaining about the editor is not going to cause Korg to alter its work.

I find it interesting to see how the Kronos is being used. The editor isn't that important to me. Seeing the results had made me re think. When it arrives I am going to give it a try. I may be missing out. That's the reason for the poll from my perspective .MartinHines wrote:I really don't understand the purpose of the poll, except to allow people one more chance to complain about the editor.

It's not to stir things up. It's to look at other peoples opinions. Which is a good thing IMO .
Cheers

I found this poll very interesting, especially as it showed, that much less people find it as important, as it appeared to be, by reading all the forumposts regarding the editor in past.
Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff...
I found the poll interesting as well. To me it shows
a) that the keyword "editor" is misleading concerning the main point. What is missed most is not the editor (we have the big Kronos screen) or librarian (we have PCG Tools), but the VSTi!! So the thread title is as unclear as many expectations of people who aren't aware of the difference. Some posts above clearly show this user misunderstanding.
b) many Kronos users seem to have no experience with hardware synth VSTis, as they are common for any user of an Access Virus TI/TI2, and for some other hardware synths. You can't miss what you don't know or don't understand.
Recording is MUCH smarter and more convenient with a hardware synth VSTi than without. But for people relying on their oldfashioned recording procedures with separate manual midi and audio recording setups (just as we all have to right now), without total recall and without fast direct access to sounds and to advanced automation, the VSTi of course is nothing they are waiting for. Maybe some will never use it, ignoring what it is all about, and keep on regarding it as nice, but not necessary "editor" addon.

Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5
To really get into editing requires hours of time at the screen. Given the position of the touch screen, which is great for on the fly changes, and quick forays into the software innards, it still doesn't come close to being able to see loads of large info, all at the same time, on one, or multiple monitors. Also, back and neck strain reduced, and my SQ 80 doesn't overhang my monitor!
Having said that, for a keyboard, the screen is great, I just wouldn't want to use it as my monitor all day. If you were to try and argue the pros and cons if the software was "Word", it's obvious.

Since I tend to buy instruments likes basses and guitars and keyboards before I'm interested in getting the Internet in my studio and my computer is older than dirt, I have to ask, how is this going to help me? My recording here is generally sketches for my band and since I live in an apartment building I can't record live drums. The things I do record are onto my Yamaha 16G recorder. I'm having a hard time figuring how an editor is going to make my life easier.
Is it on the computer?
Sorry but I'm not really getting this at all.

Mine is also on the upper tier which makes it tougher with the screen not being angled. I guess it's about ergonomics. My computer is at a right angle to my keyboards, so it can be a pain to work that way too. I'll try the editor when it comes out. I might change my mind.Arp_ wrote:And I can place Kronos only on upper tier where it is not that easy to use touchscreen, and PC editor is pretty much the only way I can comfortably edit programs.JimH wrote:Since the Kronos has a big touch screen right there, an editor doesn't seem that important to me.

I don't know why I read this thread as I already knew what reaction I would have.
Honestly, I don't care if everyone in this forum didn't want or need the plugin editor. But I do and it was an advertised feature that I have been waiting 10 months for.
I purchased Kronos because I wanted an alternative to buggy software samplers such as Kontakt, Giga Studio, and Mach 5 to use within my DAW. There are times where I just wished I bought a Motif XF which has the functionality I was led to believe the Kronos had.

Jahrome,
Did you get any joy with getting your Kronos repaired? (not trying to stir it up - just interested to see if you had any closure on that particular issue)

Good news on the warranty cover though. Was it a quick turn-around?

With all due respect to the posters involved, that's a pretty bold statement.
Has it occurred to the posters that some people can work with hardware just as quickly as those with a software front-end?
I'm full aware of the virus ti and good it is, but there's a world of difference between editing on the virus's lcd panel compared to Kronos.
Suffice to say that the VST should be here. It isn't though. And for most people (according to he poll) whilst it will useful when it appears, won't render Kronos unusable in the meantime.
