Keith Emerson was the Jordan Rudess of his day. Unfortunately we don't seem to see as many ripping keyboard players out there as we do guitar players. Sad but somewhat true.
There was also Rick Wakeman.

Wonder what he has on the knobs?
Interesting - check out the Main volume and Fx Send2 knobs and the 1/9 and 8/16 sliders on the Kronos -they have white caps.
When I saw DT here in SF these four were glowing red when he tilted the keyboard. I wonder if the LEDs are connected to anything, and if so how? Seems hard to fit a button cell battery in there...

but... but...jeremykeys wrote:In the mid to late 80's, progressive music somewhat fell off of the map. Dream Theater is pretty much the main driving force behind it's return although with a much heavier element.
These guys would say differently:

Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

That's just amazing! Where on earth did you find that picture?
Can't stop laughing here!
I have to find a way to scan some really old phots of myself in the seventies. I looked a lot like Rick Wakeman. Includong the big keyboard rig. Well, if you can call 4 keyboards a big rig.

I'm thinking the MOD-7 engine might be a good candidate for that since there's already feedback involved in the process. I think Roland does more with specific spectra and feedback for the JP-8000 and V-Synth feedback oscillators but a little processing thrown into a MOD-7 patch might also emulate that.Ksynth wrote:Could a feedback oscilator be added to the Kronos?
Would it be just a software addition?
Great interview.
Maybe STR-1 could also be a good choice?

Re: Jordan Rudess on the Kronos
I think he could really take it to the next level with a gyroscope or some sort of Wayne-Coyne-esque "space bubble"/hamster ball!tlong wrote:Excellent clip. I really enjoyed watching this. The stands this man has are simply awesome. The thing about keyboard players is they can't move around like guitarists but these stands go some way into showing some movement - great ideas - I wonder what it is like playing on them?
It is also great to see an Artist like Jordan Rudess have such confidence in the Korg Kronos and use it totally as his main keyboard.
The talk of the Roland Feedback Oscillator on the V-Synth XT makes me want to go an create one myself. It is funny but I havent used my XT in a while.

Nothing related to US or not just the kind of music you are listening to !
If you are "progressive" lover you must know every "monster" player and he is one of them !
Don't assume that I am a young man and that's why I know him.
I am 52 years old

Let's also listen Derek Sherinian in the same kind of modern playing:
http://www.dereksherinian.com/
Eddie Jobson was one of my favourite in the 80's but came in 2011 with something new with his new band UKZ:

But there are much more "monster" players and not only known in the US.
Regards.
