I never dug the Blofeld. The Radias just sounded way fuller and more bad-ass to me.

Yamaha TG500 (rack version of the SY88). It was my main sound source for a couple of years, and had some decent MFX, but ultimately just not very inspiring and the few sounds I really liked were easily replaced.
Also Emu Orbit 3 module - a surprisingly capable synth for what is basically a rompler with some interesting (very flexible) digital filters, but for some reason I just never clicked with it.

And I still use its built-in Orchestral and Session SR-JV cards when I need orchestral sounds for some compositions; they do the job in a mix, and no one has ever complained...
I guess I shouldn't have said that on this forum; from now on I'm not allowed anymore to complain about the Kronos orchestral strings
Snap!
I use that orchestral card in my JV1080 all the time. Truly extraordinary how well it still holds up, especially when you consider the TINY size of the sample ROM!

I had the Korg T3 before it and loved the warmth . The 01 w just ever did it for me. The Trinty was better and the Triton Studio, despite its lack of warmth, was an excellent work station.
The Kronos, after 3 demo plays is another level. Several levels!
My experience was similar, except that I thought the 01/W had warmth that the Trinity and Triton lacked.

Interesting to see that some people like the 01/W more than Trinity and others vice versa.

When I finally went to buy a replacement after using the 01/W for around 8 years, I just couldn't get behind the sound of the Korgs at the time. They just didn't sound as good to me. I couldn't figure out why and thought I was a lone nut. In recent years, I've read explanations regarding the difference in the technology and found that there were many others who held my view.
Clearly, not everyone hears it the same way.

Sure, the Roland programmers knew their job!
The most extraordinary sound quality vs. ROM size ratio I have ever heard is the
harpsichord [click to play mp3] of the SO-PCM1-06 Baroque expansion card for the JD-800/JD-990 and the early JV synths. It sounds very close to the Skowroneck that Gustav Leonhardt used to record the Well Tempered Clavier. And yet that multisample probably uses no more than a hundred KBytes...
(sound example from the SR-JV80-07 card which contained the waveforms of the SO-PCM1 cards; source www.synthmania.com)

Motif XS was too limited as stand alone workstation. It required Cubase for what I needed to do..... I didn't want to use Cubase.
Alesis, was a bargain at 499, wish it didn't have MIDI out issue and had a tempo synced delay effect.

Anything I had with "Alesis" and "Q" in the title.

I actually GAVE away a Kawai K1-II. I had bought it with a TG-33 and I was finding incresingly that there was only one patch that I liked. While neither has resonant filters, I found the Kawai to be SEVERELY limited for programming, so I gave it to a friend who just wanted something to noodle around on.

Roland D-20. I sold it, a hardhell case, and a stand together for less than I could have sold the case for by itself. I wanted it out of my life THAT bad.
