No, his letter will be 'stolen' before he gets it. Then he will write about the police, private detectives and that he lives in a gated community where miraculously some "boyz 'n da hood" managed to sneak past and take from his desk by the open window.Trinity2112 wrote:Yeah...one.markuk wrote:Bloody hell, Can you imagine how many letters sina is going to get.

Hahaha!! This cracked me up much more than anything Sina has ever written. Classic.Kontrol49 wrote:markuk wrote:Bloody hell, Can you imagine how many letters sina is going to get.
His letter will be on gold leafed paper and written with LARGE CAPS,he'll then tell us how it's the BEST LETTER he's ever read and how he gets BLOWN AWAY by it everytime he READS it so much so he's having THE LETTER cloned into 400 other copies all having 7 different colour FRAMES,One for EVERYDAY of the week AND ENOUGH copies so that HE can stick one to ALL HIS Kronos's AS ITS THE best thing he's ever done
There won't be any photographic proof of his letter NEITHER(like some have scanned theirs) as his entourage of secretaries will all be TOO BUSY organising planning permission legalities to rewire his 80,000 sq ft studio with it's 800 USB wall SOCKETS IN THE attic!!!!!!so they won't be available to take any pictures, but ONCE THE studio is done man,it will restore his STREET CRED,cos at the MOMENT thats In STORAGE along with the SSL 960,000 input Mixer and 88 OASYS and 48 TRITON
Oh and don't expect a reply in the next fifty years as he's too busy to come in here as he's managing his working crew as they START WORK at 5AM but yet still can manage TO SQUEEZE a 600 word ESSAY in between his BUSY SCHEDULE which is still 599 Words too many just to say the word BULLSHIT....
I think we should print this and send to Sina in an envelope!

Best thing I've read here in a long time - brilliant!Kontrol49 wrote:markuk wrote:Bloody hell, Can you imagine how many letters sina is going to get.

I received a letter from KORG. What is it? The my OASYS 88 is fully expanded. Who among us has not expanded its OASYS with the purchase of
expansions?
I think none of the current owners.
I'm not angry but very disappointed.
Open Architecture Synthesis Studio .... completely Forgot!
Our money may not have been good?
Very elegant writing paper used, good KORG!
Ciao , Giuseppe

There are quite a few who have not purchased them myself included and I would say there are also quite a few who maybe only authorised one or two this then gives everyone the chance to expand to the same level sorry if you feel hard done by
As they say the early bird catches the worm....but in this case it's the second mouse that gets the cheese
The best things come to those who wait...
I've always been dubious over financial upgrades with Technology it's one of the reasons I steer clear of computer music making software,in the case of Oasys, patience has paid off

I never quite fully understood why people, who paid $$$$$ for their Oasyses, didn't bother with paying an additional relatively small sum of money to get additional NEW SYNTHS?giu_gio wrote:Who among us has not expanded its OASYS with the purchase of expansions?

Paul: Don't be nervous.
John: I'M NOT NERVOUS!!!

Well if you bought a top of the range Ferrari with a V8 engine would you be happy for it to run on 6 cylinders but had to pay an additional premium for the use of those 2 extra cylinders that were already built in
In my case I had little call to use them and certainly no need whatsoever for the brass irrespective of outlaying thousands to buy the machine

I bought LAC-1. Excellent emulation of PolySix and MS20.curvebender wrote:I never quite fully understood why people, who paid $$$$$ for their Oasyses, didn't bother with paying an additional relatively small sum of money to get additional NEW SYNTHS?giu_gio wrote:Who among us has not expanded its OASYS with the purchase of expansions?
I have the demo for MOD-7. As it stands it doesn't sound nearly as good as an Yamaha SY99 or even a Yamaha SY 77 which cost me £100. So why would I bother spending even more money on an FM add-on for a (supposedly) future-proof workstation that subsequently became unsupported ?
I'll have MOD-7 for free. No way would I have paid for it.
As for Brass & Woodwinds, I don't really use that type of sound. Again, I'll have it for free.
As I see it, Korg wasn't going to make any more money on these sound engines, so why not give them away. It has not really cost them any money.
Unless of course those that have them just don't want those that don't to have them. That would be very sad

Er, I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it.....would I ?billysynth1 wrote:Are you sure about Mod7 not sounding 'nearly' as good as sy77/99????? You sure??
Vas
To be honest it makes sense to me. Doesn't mean that MOD-7 doesn't have more potential, but the Yamaha SY77 and SY99 have had many years of sound design vs very little on MOD-7. I would suggest that it's down to how good the patch programming is rather than how good the sound engine is....
I did succeed to reconstuct a handful of my favourite personal SY99 sounds on MOD-7 (which is very time consuming) and the sound quality and richness of the transformed MOD-7 sounds is of course much better in every aspect than the original SY99 sounds, and you don't have the annoying background noise tail of the SY99 (1991).TonyGen wrote:...Doesn't mean that MOD-7 doesn't have more potential, but the Yamaha SY77 and SY99 have had many years of sound design vs very little on MOD-7. But you are right, that the KORG MOD-7 factory programs do not really represent the power of Yamaha's RCM Synthesis from SY77/99, which is possible to reconstruct with MOD-7 and KORG went in a quite different direction with their MOD-7 factory programs, compared to the YAMAHA SY-99 factory programs. But this shows the incredible flexibility of MOD-7 which still waits to be fully discovered.
PS: I once made the promise on this forum to release my SY99/MOD-7 sounds, but it is so time consuming to reprogram the SY-99 sounds on MOD-7 that I have only a handful of my own and very personal sounds so far, which I prefer not to share. Unfortunately I didn't find the time yet to transfer some public SY99 sound programs to MOD-7. Sorry for the broken promise. But MOD-7 is in KRONOS now and in the hands of the mass users and there might be some future KRONOS users who will do the hard work. It is just unfortunate, that it isn't possible to load KRONOS programs into OASYS. But it is of course still possible to copy the KRONOS parameters manually to the OASYS...

I got my letter today as I was out of town a couple of days. Yes, the letter and the quality of the letterhead and even the envelope shows detail and care for their communication with their OASYS customers. I like this detail and I don't know if it a part of Japanese detail and respect in general within business but this is impressive. I already have all the software they are going to release for free but regardless I think they've realized that it is a excellent marketing strategy to have OASYS users on their side with the Kronos product release. Consider this, it wouldn't look good if you release a fine product like the Kronos while in the backround you have people generate doubts of how future customers will be valued. I would love for Korg to consider developing again for the Oasys considering that it has very much in common with the Kronos. That act would certainly seal my loyalty with Korg for many years to come. Still, I also say thank you for remembering me.

Hi guys, i did receive the letter today and i have to say even if some of us paid for the expansions (i did for one board at least : ), i think is a nice gesture from Korg to send this letters in a nice and elegant form, to me shows some respect to all of us Oasys users who believe in this board and support it for so many years, an email is easy to send, a letter shows some little effort at least, wich in this day and age is a rarity.
Technology is very fast right now and i'll get faster by the day, so to get a grasp of an instrument that can survive more than 5 years is a blessing, and honestly i thing it will still survive a couple more years if people digs deep on the guts of this great machine, so i have to say thanks too, i'm a Oasys supporter and i'll always be, i tour with it, i compose with it and every time i turn it on it makes me smile and inspires me, so thanks for it, just my 2 cents.
Best to all of you
