Martin - what are you talking about? That seller offers a range of service manuals - some not available elsewhere. I could not acquire the service manual from Korg UK - they would not sell it when I enquired some time back. In fact, On submitting three different requests for quotes for the manual and for spare parts - Korg UK didn't bother to reply once. They are very poor – correct that – non-existent - at responding to service support for OASYS. This is not a gripe or exaggeration – this is the situation on the ground.MartinHines wrote:That is pretty sleazy. So, given this, I see this seller as offering an indispensible service - and if Korg are prepared to effectively abandon OASYS support then I don’t think they are in a position to cry foul.
I've purchased several manuals from this eBay seller that are not otherwise available. They offer a prompt, reasonable service. I know one can on occasion find people placing service manuals on the Web for free - but many are not, and I've found this source reliable, and quite cost effective.
I don't think it's right to call an eBay seller sleazy by default.
Kevin.

Kevin.
The fact that Korg is not willing to sell its Service Manuals is irrelevant. It is their copyright and therefore they control it.
Imagine you created some content that people wanted, but you were not willing to release it to the public. Would you consider it a "service" if I obtained your content and not only distributed it but and sold it for a profit, simply because you were not willing to release it? Would it make a difference if I not only sold content created by you but also content created by others?
Also, if the Seller was really providing a service, why doesn't he sell the electronic version? The answer is simple -- he doesn't want the content HE STOLE to be stolen by others. It would be different if he actually purchased physical copies of the Service Manual from Korg then re-sold them, but he isn't.
I do think the Seller is sleazy, making money off of other people's work.
Martin - I'm the author of a popular science book called "Mars, A Cosmic Stepping Stone". Released worldwide from the largest science publisher popular science division in New York (Springer/Copernicus) - my book sold in the thousands, but is still downloaded - illegally - and has been done so in the hundreds of thousands. The publisher and I stopped tracking illegal downloads at 180,000 in October 2009! Indeed - even Google have 17 of the 21 chapters of my book free to read on books.google.com. Believe me I'm not saying it's right - but the gene is out of the bottle on this one and nobody is listening to your stand point when it comes to content.
I'm afraid this is the world we are living in. And - if Korg are not willing to sell this article, and yet make it available free to service centres - it is even questionable that it's under copyright. Perhaps it is, but it's not certain. The person provides a fabulous print, of excellent quality and of highly complex circuits, all very readable - and charges about what it would cost to produce them and post them - they are certainly not looking to rip anyone off at the costs they are charging - and - as said -many of the service manuals they provide are old and not otherwise available.
Overall, I see this particular service as overall quite descent - they are not a sleazy out fit as you claim.
Kevin.

I'd like to say "thank you" for having given me the possibility to get a copy of that technical publication, otherwise (I.M.H.O.) impossible to find, at least here in Italy.
Really helpful, just in case of future troubles!
Best Regards
