Ivan,

Stupid, but... Combi mode is Combi mode regardless of the number of patches. Single patch in combi mode is a combi, not a program any more.

Hey guys,

So not to dig up an old thread or anything but would a sustain pedal do me any good with this issue or do you reckon the way the M50 is designed it will just cut off the signal completely and the pedal won't help?

in combi mode, the sound will be cut-off anyway.

this mr billbaker is just bullshiting u like the way he has with others...he would post lengthy twisted ideas to xplain problem based issues that have made lives of many m50 users difficult.eventually he would say he doesnot have m50 but he knows everything of this machine...wierd guy indeed.

ur problem is a global problem...worldwide indeed...and i would suggest here to stay away from korg m50 for at least a while coz this is the place that happens 2 b visited by many people...before they even make up mind 2 buy this machine...

KORG HAS REMOVED 10S HOLD FACILITY FROM THIS KEYBOARD.AS A RESULT OF THIS PEOPLE CAN IN NO WAY MAKE OUT ANY CONCEIVABLE WAY OF USING PHYSICAL SWITCHES TO SWAP PROGRAMS,,,A VERY CONVENIENT FEATURE AVAILABLE ON OLD KORG MODELS AND ALSO ALL MODELS FROM ROLAND AND YAMAHA.

AND ON TOP OF THIS THERE IS THIS DAMNED LCD PANEL THAT ALLOWS MIN SPACE FOR PEOPLE WITH FAT FINGERS TO CONVENIENTLY CHANGE PROG.FOR EG IF U NEED TO CHANGE 2 PIANO AND UR FINGER SOMEHOW TOUCHED THE AREA ON LCD FOR SOME OTHER PROG LIKE TRUMPET...U R DEAD COZ THE MACHINE IS CHANGED 2 TRUMPET INSTEAD OF PIANO.

...PLUS THERE IS A PERCEIVABLE LAG IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 2ND PROG ACROSS THE KEYBOARD WHICH SHOULD HAVE OCCURED INSTANTANEOUSLY AS IT DOES ON MY VERY VERY VERY CHEAP YAMAHA PSR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND ALL ON OTHER MACHINES FROM YAMMY, ROLAND EVEN CASIO.

THIS WILL CAUSE UR MUSICAL PHRASE/RIFF TO GET INTERRUPTED COZ THE NOTES WILL RIDE UP ON ONE ANOTHER FOR THE DELAY IN IMPLEMENTATION OF 2ND PROGRAM.

FOR EG IF U WERE CHANGING FROM PIANO TO BRASS AND U HAD THE IDEA THAT FIRST NOTE OF BRASS HAD 2 B SAY D...DUE TO THE LAG THE PIANO WILL STILL SOUND ON D(THE BRASS SHOULD ACTUALLY BE SOUNDING ON D IN THIS CASE)

NO MATTER HOW CAREFUL U WERE IN CHANGING THE PROG AT THE SPECIFIED POINT IN THE PASSAGE.

AND HOLD ON... THERE WILL ALSO BE A DELAY BY SAY A FEW MILLI SECONDS BEFORE THE D NOTE ACTUALLY COMES OUT SOUNDING COZ THE CHANGE IN PROG FROM PIANO 2 BRASS OR WHATEVER HELL IT HAS 2 B IN UR CASE IS GONNA INVARIABLY FREEZE THE MACHINE FOR THAT FEW MILLI SECONDS...AND IT IS PERCEPTIBLE...BANG!

Usually what I do is have one combi per song, and program the switches to mute/unmute groups of timbres (either in the programs themselves or using IFX).

I've got a foot controller with a couple of buttons set to transmit the SW1 and SW2 commands, so I can be playing with both hands and still change sounds.

If you need a gradual fade between sounds, you can do it with at the program level with the AMS lag processor. Let me know if you need more info...

Hey Kim! :)

Actually.. I do ;) Thing is, I'll use anywhere from 3-6 different patches per song, but, for example, some piano patches will be used in several songs. Patches are usually one type of piano/electric piano, a few different pads and a lead or two, and usually quite different sounding, of course.

Problem is, I can't do this properly in program mode as you can only ever store one program in one location in program mode, right? And also organizing stuff in combi mode with solo switches didn't seem to do the trick either.. as for the sequencer thing I'm completely lost there.. so I'm all for a detailed explanation of how I can do anything at all to get rid of that damn cutoff :)

THIS is a global problem...worldwide indeed...and i would suggest here to stay away from korg m50 for at least a while until korg addresses this major technical problem .Since this is the place that happens 2 b visited by many people...before they even make up mind 2 buy this machine...i will discuss this mindblowing engineering blunder that has gone down into design of this machine...m50

KORG HAS REMOVED 10S HOLD FACILITY FROM THIS KEYBOARD.AS A RESULT OF THIS PEOPLE CAN IN NO WAY MAKE OUT ANY CONCEIVABLE WAY OF USING PHYSICAL SWITCHES TO SWAP PROGRAMS,,,A VERY CONVENIENT FEATURE AVAILABLE ON OLD KORG MODELS AND ALSO ALL MODELS FROM ROLAND AND YAMAHA.and some cheapest casios

AND ON TOP OF THIS THERE IS THIS DAMNED LCD PANEL THAT ALLOWS MIN SPACE FOR PEOPLE WITH FAT FINGERS TO CONVENIENTLY CHANGE PROG.FOR EG IF U NEED TO CHANGE TO PIANO AND UR FINGER SOMEHOW TOUCHED THE AREA ON LCD FOR SOME OTHER PROG LIKE TRUMPET...U R DEAD COZ THE MACHINE IS CHANGED 2 TRUMPET INSTEAD OF PIANO.

so there remains every possibility to land up in soup while changing prog live.....the lag will turnish ur reputation as a keyboardist in the band.
