You can bet your booty that Roland's working on a new Fantom or Fantom replacement. The Fantom G is dead development-wise, and it's 3 years old now. I wouldn't expect to see any new workstations announced until next year's NAMM though.
A "Super-GAIA" under a Jupiter name is an interesting concept, however. I might even be interested in something like that...

Shame the Lionstracs are so expensive.UKSimon wrote:Well if you bought one of the Lionstracs Groove X keyboards, then you could load Omnisphere and away you go.

Roland UK changed their website
Looks like the Yanks made Roland UK change their website.. the blurry photo of the keyboard has now be replaced by "An amazing new instrument takes form..." and a picture of some drums, a guitar and is that a saxophone (no keyboard)....what are they playing at?
Maybe its the G replacement after all - has the game changed again...?
Oh, by the way... nearly forgot my opening question.....
Korg - where are the Eu prices and delivery dates.... ???
Maybe you have to re-consider them especially if there is a G replacement about to be announced....(not my theory - unless its the result of a G a Gaia, some alcohol and a darkened room)?

Hrm... yes, this is quite the unexpected twist.
Okay, maybe a new Fantom AND a new VA, like a JD-2000...
In one chassis? I still like the idea of a separate rompler workstation and a VA synth wih a well endowed control panel, but I wouldn't complain if it's integrated. Much.
With a polypressure keyboard? I'd go broke getting one. Money is no object if it includes polypressure.

PRAY FOR THIS PLANET!!
I don't care a d¤mn about a Roland workstation. A Fantom never appealed to me, and I believe Roland has made no investment in the developement of a new sample based synth engine since the JV engine.
The only interesting thing Roland brought out in more than 20 years is Variphrase, which is a very interesting concept, and although it had some bad limitations, its V-Synth implementation was really groundbreaking.
I'd really appreciate an improved version of the V-Synth XT without the limitations of the 1st version (memory, sample management, etc.) and with a built in D50 card (it's a shame that they dropped that for the V-Synth GT
).

Yep, as well as a new VSynth GT replacement... Rumors floating around seem to merge the Fantom and VSynth... How valid is it? I don't know, it's just rumors...AK-Jake wrote:You can bet your booty that Roland's working on a new Fantom or Fantom replacement. The Fantom G is dead development-wise, and it's 3 years old now.
That's also what I heard about Fantom and/or VSynth keyboard(s)...I wouldn't expect to see any new workstations announced until next year's NAMM though.
Yep, it could still be interesting, even thought I'm more interested into the VSynth replacement... Anyway, stay tuned then. April 6th is coming soonA "Super-GAIA" under a Jupiter name is an interesting concept, however. I might even be interested in something like that...

Whatever they do, I agree with EXer: I hope they'll consider putting the D50 emulation back in. I always thought that was a neat way to capitalize on Roland's vibrant synth history, much like with Korg and the Legacy Collection.SpIdErWeB wrote:Yep, as well as a new VSynth GT replacement... 13 days and counting (not as excited as I was)
13 Days to go....
Lot of anticipation in Europe, but what's this? Absolute silence from Korg marketing.
What? No news as to whether they are going to announce realistic (rather than fantastic (-ly inflated)) list prices (in Europe)?
No news as to when this is going to ship and what is causing the delays - is it April, May, June???
And on this thread (I am partly to blame) people look like they are more intrigued with what Roland are going to announce.....
Sorry but this is a Korg forum (right!) for the Kronos?
Are we all getting a bit bored because of the silence?
Yawn.....

Yes, but Korg Europe hasn't been present in this forum, didn't you know?RKfan wrote:Lot of anticipation in Europe, but what's this? Absolute silence from Korg marketing.

Just when you've been lulled into a false sense of boredom...
... a scary clown hits with you a stick carrying a 4 digits price tag, rips your face off and runs away laughing wildly

ouch... careful! there are pregnant women and elders visiting this forum.AK-Jake wrote:A "Super-GAIA"
ok, ok, I used strong images myself: the mad clown who eats children...

... but a "super-GAIA" image is a bit too much even for strong stomachs.

But it's not a formal Korg forum - it's a Korg user forum - Korg do not make official statements here.RKfan wrote:13 Days to go....

Actually - I think the opposite to you - I think this is an amazing forum with continuous interesting posts, given the keyboard is not out yet. In the long run its shipping date will not matter and just imagine how interesting it's going to get post-shippment. Kudos to Korg for keeping hardware synthesizer and keyboards alive and kicking at this very moment where software dominates - I personally think it's all very, very exciting and vibrant. but as said - Korg do not owe us an announcement here - this forum is owned by Sharp and not Korg.
Cheers, Kevin.

This is a great forum, but
Kevin,
I agree this is a great forum for all potential customers for the Kronos. I know it does not belong to Korg and that those people from Korg that have visited and posted to the site with their audio and video demos do so out of the goodness of their hearts because they are really enthusiastic about this great new product (not because its their job to keep us all excited, after all its not as if they are Product Managers or marketeers or any sort of job role with a vested interest).
But Korg do have their own web-sites and they are keeping a deafening silence on when the product is going to ship and for the Eurpeans not telling us if it is going to be affordable.
I agree that this site is likely to get really exciting once the product reaches the streets but for the next 13 days there is going to be silence before the storm. I just hope that the storm is not caused by disappointed Europeans... You can guess what we'll all be crying about.

Re: This is a great forum, but
Korg USA people will only make an announcement when the product actually is on the boat. This has been true of every recent Korg keyboard.RKfan wrote:But Korg do have their own web-sites and they are keeping a deafening silence on when the product is going to ship and for the Eurpeans not telling us if it is going to be affordable.
I suspect Korg distributors in Europe will announce pricing at Musikmesse.
