It's Comcast Digital, it's delivered via cable with the TV service ... it's pretty much the standard package they offer in this area. It works really well and I can't remember the last time I had any outage.

I'm getting better speeds now.

This is normal for a 3G Signal out in the middle of nowhere.

How indicative is this thing, anyway? I tried it a few times mere seconds apart, and got vastly different readings each time.

It seems it's a bit like blood pressure, up and down like a ruddy yo-yo.

Some broadband services use resources that are shared by you and other people in your neighbourhood, so that might cause the variance your seeing. Bandwidth is a key metric so is your Contention Ratio.

here is mine adsl connection... anyway I noticed that trying the test many times results are always different...

that's true... i even got higher download and upload speeds on different servers. Even from those far away from the "recommended one"
