Korg Forums

We get it. You don't like the update because of "bugs" Leone. Then downgrade as suggested. But criticism of people that have contributed to these forums and have done so for years is uncalled for.
Every roll out of a new OS will have its problems whether it's on a KRONOS or Windows, or any other upgrade. Be patient and welcome the wisdom of the people here. It will get fixed.
Oh ya, I'm backing KORG because their track record is excellent.

i am really sorry but I do not mean critising users in this forum, I found the forum very helpfull. You are very defensive. If this is the type of forum where you have only to talk well about Korg then I am out as that is not right for me. If so it is not free and manipulated by Korg and their resellers. However I do criticise people just putting up with problems and accepting suboptimal delivery and paying good dollars for it!!!!

As Greg said users form their views based on experience; mine with Korg is of poor delivery and I am not hiding it.

And sir I have a studio with lots of instruments from virtually every maker (Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Nord, etc.) and Korg Kronos is the worst at stability!!!!! Crashes are common and no it is not down to usp.

As burningbusch mentioned, there is nothing really unstable about the update.

The title of this thread is therefore quite, let's say... exaggerated ?

My Kronos has never ever crashed in nearly four years.

What exactly are you doing to make it crash, maybe we can try to replicate it to see if it is a problem with all of them or just yours?

I have not enjoyed the experience from some of the team members through their replies related to the unstability of the Kronos. i use it for professional song creation and sound synthesis. So I did push it to the limit.
I will turn off yhe Kronos and wait for another update as noone can safely tell me if I can downgrade the os without problems for future upgrades.

For me the Kronos is buggy software on a pc running Linux, overpriced for the internal specs it delivers. It is an intel Atom inside!!!! i followed some articles about the internal specs and how to upgrade the motherboard and that opened my eyes in terms of how much of a rip off it is!!!

If that's what you think that the Kronos is, then perhaps the Kronos is not for you.

Hey, its almost Xmas.

Us old time/long time Kronos owners have heard it all read it all many times over, then we wait a year, its the same old same old.

Some go back to the Oasys and its the same wash/rinse/repeat stuff about whats on the Internet, etc.

Some go even further back to the Oasys PCI

Just letting you know what to expect when you take a position on what you
feel the Kronos is all about. Many folks here have excellent knowledge and skill over time and they have helped 1000's of folks with that.

Kronos seems stable here with OS3.1. It's been on and in use for quite a few hours, now. The only warnings seen have been about Karma's layer D assignment changing when selecting Karma for both layers/splits, presumably because the programmers knew there would be a limitation.

It would appear that, when using splits/layers, Karma is effectively operating 7 layers. There's certainly a lot more going on in such splits/layers, when both components of the split are using Karma.

The title of this topic seems a little pissy.
If someonoe wants to complain about KRONOS, they have that right.
But its all in how one presents the complaint.
I have never understood why someone would pay big bucks for KRONOS
Or other gear only to bash it like they would have never have purchased it in the first place.
KORG didnt have to give us this update, but they were thinking of us users when they did.
I am sure KORG will fix these bugs, but rome wasnt built in a day.
I am happy that KORG is still very involved with a product that has been out for six years.

With all due respect, this obviously extreme judgement is just plain nonsense from my view. The new update obviously introduces some unwelcome buggy behavior, but this is FAR from a general Kronos OS experience. Crashes are NOT common here, and if they are with your Kronos, you should better have it checked.

I am using my Kronos since 5 1/2 years now, and crashes and problems have been extremely rare. On the other hand, I have experience with keyboards of most of the other companies you name, and faced problems with each and every company, beginning from completely halfbaked OS deliveries never fixed (Roland!) up to crashes from about every company's synths you name.

So whom the heck are you thinking you are trying to teach here? We know our Kronos certainly just as well as you seem to think.

Even if the Kronos is the by far most developed and complex workstation/synth of them all, you will neither fool me nor anyone else here into believing this wrongly generalizing stability nonsense, while lots of Kronos users are using it all the time, gigging with it, recording with it, playing it all day long!

Korg has often fixed relevant bugs quite fast (again in sharp contrast to some other keyboard company experiences I have had), and I'm sure we will see a minor update fixing this one soon.

Likewise It could be said that most if not all of the professional music you make is just off those same old 12 or other notes of the scale, and what a rip off that is for your clients/ users. You release a new album and it again is some permutation and combination of those same old notes..

Any thing can be perceived and presented any which way, its eventually our choice how we wanna look at it. If it's a rip off, It was the choice I/you made.
It (the subject) is still what it is.
It still is/remains what it is.

When you bought your Kronos I presume that you were aware of the hardware specs. So why complain then afterwards ? I don't get it.

Does OS 3.1 really makes Karma impossible to use ?
Would like to know by the way as I don't really get what the bugs are about in OS 3.1

Well after all the kind replies I thought there is perhaps something wrong with my Kronos so I went and did a full restore and it works much better now!!
Maybe as a guess one of the previous updates messed it up, probably when it crashed updating to 3.0.4.
It seems working fine now or at least has not crashed in one hour! At least it is usable now!!!
