Oasys owners ... Kronos really better or worth it?

Indeed. Every time I watch Mike Conway's "Unofficial" OASYS tutorial DVD I realize how much I underutilize this thing. And that does not even deal with KARMA creation.
I am quite happy that Korg was able to make an "OASYS for the masses" with the KRONOS, but will always be quite chuffed that I was not only able to own the O, but also to know that the majority of my musical output since 2009 and beyond has been because of it.
It continues to amaze.

I know I'm late to the thread, but I wanted to comment that I am one of the Kronos users who is eternally thankful for all of the wisdom I have received from OASYS musicians. Without you, we would be floundering. I wanted an OASYS so damn badly when it was released but my ex-wife though a house would be more important - blah. We had a great three bedroom flat and no kids. Anyway, how could I not jump on a Kronos when I became single and it was released.
I still envy you folks. Yes the Kronos is as Kevin stated wayy back jaw droppingly good, but, I see pics of the OASYS and I still want one - badly.
You know, I believe that OASYS is a future proof workstation. Think about it, what has come along that even comes close? The Fantom G8? The Yamaha XF? Only the Kronos is in the league of OASYS. Roland and Yamaha had plenty of time to eclipse OASYS and it never happened and it isn't going to happen; you know it and I know it.
I can only imagine that some of you feel very stung. You made a considerable investment. What else was available at the time with such power? Fairlights and really, I think that OASYS eclipsed that mythical instrument. If anything is a testament to OASYS is the fact that most of you are still creating killer music with it. You are creating not because you spent 8000 USD but because OASYS is a great instrument.
Again, I want to thank you all. You could have told we Kronos folk to bugger off. Instead what I have found are OASYS owners who have given advice so freely that I feel a mere thank you is insufficient (Kevin, your AL-1 collection has become an integral part of my music. Slainte!! [Yes I am part Irish. And I am part Italian and the Italian in me wanted to whack that (inserting Italian expletive here in case Sharp or the other mods can read Italian) lower life form that insulted you and the Irish; Sharp got him first. :p and two to the back of the head in fine Sicilian fashion
).
OASYS musicians: Keep creating on this killer instrument. Please? The music I have heard from you and the sounds you have created are simply fantastic. I truly mean that.
Best,
Vlad

Current gear: Kronos, Jupiter 80, Kurzweil PC3,Roland Fantom X8, Roland XV-88 (yep, its old, but the ACTION is heaven and those XV-3080 sounds are still wonderful for me), Radias-R, Motif ES (yeah it's older but I love the guitars
)

And keep creating we shall Vlad! The OASYS just begs to be played. I hear it calling now!
One thing I would have wished for after seeing all of Qui's magnificent KRONOS tutorials...that he would have had an OASYS instead of an M3!
I nearly fell out of my chair when I went back and read the posts you were referring to because we had quite a row over on Karma Lab Forums a few years back with Mr. Mauro Rosati. I can take jabs and even insults with aplomb, but uncalled for profane and highly personal insults only serve to display a lack of maturity and intelligence.
Even though we don't always see eye to eye with Mr. Knolan over at Roland Clan, we always do highly respect his opinions and intelligence. Why, his now legendary thread about being disappointed in the Jupiter-80 has become quite a classic! We tried to lure him back just to give added fun to the thread but he wasn't having it. "Nuff said" said the OP to the hoi polloi!

I've been following Kevin Nolan's Jupiter 80 thread as well - I think it's the most active thread in that section and I daresay in all of Roland Clan!DH56 wrote:And keep creating we shall Vlad! The OASYS just begs to be played. I hear it calling now!![]()

Glad to hear that OASYS musicians will keep creating! It is a great instrument and I do believe I am not the only Kronos player who would sell his soul to have one!

I think that Kevin probably just got frustrated with trying to master the somewhat bizarre architecture of the Jupiter. He said it wasn't from lack of trying, but that he just couldn't "wrap his head around it" like on other more familiar synths. On the other hand, those that do take the time as you said are rewarded with some magnificent sounds.
It has been said by you and others that the Jupiter-80 is a nice complement to the OASYS/KRONOS, but the other unsung hero I have to mention is the V-Synth. I am getting a lot of mileage mixing my 3-V's with the OASYS, not only with lead instruments such as AP-S horns and distorted guitars, but with swirling pad textures and sync'd arpeggio patches as well. I do hope you find a good V-Synth to add to your sonic arsenal.
BTW Vlad, I saw on another thread that you are doing Beatles 66-68 type stuff. Since I am somewhat of a Beatlephile and historian, what Beatles tunes are you guys doing? What an era!

Another thing that is a real blast on the V's is coming up with new patches. The editing environment is so simple and logically laid out and the Dual COSM's and only having 2 OSC's to deal with (original V-S and VS-XT) makes it a snap to create a lot of movement.
What started as a simple project to come up with a "Sparkler Pad" turned into over 100 SoundworldA.D. patches a while back. I had a lot of fun and have been able to use several of those patches to great effect on several of my OASYS tunes.
Whether it is a KRONOS or an OASYS, mixing other synths with these marvy machines is a real stone groove!
