Hi,
My MIDI band (me and a bunch of machines) are doing a song by The Cure called In Your House. There's a seabreeze sort of synth "splash" at the beginning of each verse and I haven't been able to program a patch on my micorKorg XL to do that splash. Can someone help? Thanks and cheers! Karma

Re: microKorg XL Patch
The Cure don't seem to use the sound during any of the live performance recordings I can find, but it does appear in the track on the album Seventeen Seconds.
In that track, the sound is basically a white noise source, followed by variable band pass filtering (using the front panel knobs?) and some phaser effect.
Another approach to try might be to use the Vocoder, or the Formant Freeze feature, using your own "white" noise into the microphone, such as an "S" of "Sh" sound, or maybe a "h" sound. Take a look at roughly three minutes into the demo by Rich Formidoni. The link below should take you there:

Using the graphical user interface of the microKORG XL Editor, will make the job of sound creation easier, since several parameters will need to be tweaked.
