Hi
I know the manual says at least 5 times that 'when the LATCH is turned on KARMA will continue to play even after you've stopped playing the keyboard...' However, I have a few instances of combinations that don't obey this rule and although the latch button is till lit, do stop playing when I take my hand of the keys.
I seem to remember reading somewhere, perhaps on this forum, that there are exceptions to the rule but I can't for the life of me find the reference or how to force the Combi to keep playing.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks
Ross
Latch not latching. What gives?

One thing worth checking is in the KARMA menu / Trigger tab - the Update On Release parameter needs to be unchecked, else released notes are removed from the KARMA input source.
On the same menu tab, Note Latch needs to be set to On, else the Latch switch has no effect. In Combis, the Note Latch is settable independently for each KARMA Module.

Re: Latch not latching. What gives?
Greetings,
Ditto what VOIP mentions…
Not all Karma GE’s “loop” the generated midi. Such that a Glissando effect will stop and has an end to it. Others like bass lines or drum beats are generally programmed to cycle thru a phase or two, endlessly… And still other GE’s are set to manual advance, meaning the player has to action something to generate additional data. And still other GE’s might cutoff a module when another module starts…
[*]Which Combi’s are stopping in an unintended way?
[*]EDIT: Just saw your post on KLF, the combi you mention: Planet Vector controls the vector env when a note is held… found a brief reference on page 7 in this Korg doc: https://cdn.korg.com/us/support/downlo ... 3B#page225
PEACE

Re: Latch not latching. What gives?
Posted at karma-lab forums as well:
Apologies for not chiming in sooner.
There are a number of odd things going on in this combi that have an effect on how latching works (I’m looking at the Kronos version D055 but I assume it’s the same as the OASYS). I wouldn’t have set it up this way, but then I didn’t program this one… so I can’t be sure what the programmer’s intent was.
On Page 7-2 KARMA > MIDI Filter, you will see that Module A has the GE Notes checkbox off - so it is only generating controller movements. No notes to latch. The other 3 GEs have the checkbox on, so we can assume they are generating notes.
If we go to KARMA Page 7-4 Trigger, let’s take a look at the Note Latch parameter. First of all, the thing to understand about this parameter is that if it is “Off”, then the Latch button has no effect on it - it’s always off. If it is On, then it is controlled by the state of the Latch Button.
So Module D is Off. This Module will never latch. So let’s set it to “On”.
Then, Modules B and C have Note Latch greyed out - aha! Must be assigned to an RT Control. So we go to KARMA Page 7-6 Perf RTP. Here we see that row 8 is assigned to Note Latch for modules B and C, and it is assigned to KARMA Switch 8 (why, I don’t know).
So as far as Modules B and C go, if Switch 8 is NOT on, then the Latch Button has no effect. If Switch 8 is On, then the Latch button functions normally.
So now, with Module D’s Latch turned on from earlier, if we use the Control Surface and turn Switch 8 on, and then turn on the Latch button, you will be able to see that on KARMA GE Page 0-6, where we can see the GE activity, that Modules B, C and D do indeed latch and keep playing. And turning off the Latch button stops it all.
Hope that clears up the mystery.
