It strikes me that the electribe 2 (both versions) is a solid little sequencer that surged ahead of the game in some ways (and slipped in others) about ten years ago, but that in the mean time it has been overtaken by a range of other tools.
Is there any idea of whether KORG intends to push the electribe concept forward again, or are they hoping that we'll all buy Gadget for the Switch/iOS/MacOS and stop looking for hardware?
Electribe 3 anyone?

Korg is still selling it, so company is still taking money without any develop in its device since 2015.
When the selling will drop they will think if sell new one it will be convenient for the business.

The interface is pretty good, in physical terms. They could still get some mileage with a firmware refresh, but I still see real potential in a new generation. It could sit nicely between the MPC One and the Novation Circuit line.
Re: Electribe update cycle
For Korg, they’ve seemed more focused lately on software (like Gadget, as you said) and analog synths, rather than advancing the Electribe line. There’s been no solid hint of an Electribe 3, and it almost feels like they’re letting that series quietly rest
