And yet you still own the Pa5x? Why? Btw,
Genos2 is a great Arranger Keyboard as well.![]()

Pa5x is not the best arranger keyboard!!
I know I shouldn't say that here, because this is a Korg minded forum.
But that is undoubtedly Genos2, this was bug free at launch except for a few things.
I have both Pa5x76 and Genos2 and before that Genos1, Tyros 1 & 5 and Pa4x76 & Pa4x76 Musikant. Also Hammond, Nord and Wersi.
I am realistic and honest, but I do know the difference, I am talking about sound, styles and usability. The hardware of Pa5x very good.
But if after so many software releases so much is still not solved then something is wrong!!
Moreover Yamaha has the best support, Yamaha recently launched a platform (yamahapk.ideascale.com) to submit errors, suggestions, and comments where the programmers can track down the errors and also analyze interesting ideas from users. This does not exist at Korg, I have sent several emails to Korg support without any answer, not even a confirmation of receipt!!
At Yamaha usually the same day!!

I owned a Genos 2 and now a PSR-SX920. They are basically the same. Default Arrangers with no special features that stand out. No synthesizer build in, When you create styles, what has very basic capabilities in Yamaha Arrangers you can't even create sounds that belongs to the song. Only some basic synth editing. You can't create advanved styles as in the Pa series where you can play your own chord progressions. Chord looper is not editable, you can't save voices as sets, only registrations with styles included for example. When playing live the touchscreen is fixed and that gives me sometimes issues viewing the screen because of the lighting. On the Pa5X you can adjust the angle. I can go on for another 30 minutes. But it is also a matter of taste. What do you like to play with and how deep will you go into the system.Yamko wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:20 pmHello,Gunnar J wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 2:36 pm+1DaPale wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:49 pm We can be negative about Korg Pa5X but in my opinion it is the best Arranger there is. The Yamaha Arrangers are mainly build for home use. The Korg Pa5X for live performance. Many people say the Pa5X sounds flat compared to the Yamaha Arrangers. But when you play live you have for example natural reverb from the environment where you perform.

As an analogy "People owning the latest iPhone will also complain of missing features from the latest Samsung Galaxy; and those who own the Samsung Galaxy will complain about missing features of iPhone. In the end both category of people will use only 5% to 10% of the features of the phones and yet keep complaining about missing features they will never use." This is same scenario here with Korg and Yamaha etc., people keep complaining of Korg, yet they tend to own the Korg.DaPale wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:01 pmI owned a Genos 2 and now a PSR-SX920. In my personal opinion, the Korg PA5X is far superior because it is not only an arranger but also a workstation where new sounds can be created by colorizing existing sounds. (See Qui's videos on how to colorize sounds). Sound and Style designing is a complex task and it needs years of expertise and keen ear to create them. As far as Korg PA5X sounds flat, it is basically unto the user to colorize the sound to the liking using the various IFX, MFX the finalizer and EQ. So basically the PA5X is a musical powerhouse, which needs careful study of the various features to leverage the best of its abilities. Of course there are software bugs, and like any software development cycle, they will eventually be ironed out over time.
Re: Pa5X OS Update V1.4
Neither Pa5X or Genos2 or any other arranger keyboard is the best for anyone unless it's best for for the buyer and buyers purpose, needs and taste!!
If have both, it's top of the line from two brands. If it don't serve one's needs, it doesn't help how good or best the equipment is.
Everything is very personal, not least sound and how to make it sound. It's as simple as that.
Being dissatisfied with the frequency of updates and bug fixes is one thing.
Remember that where Yamaha has continued the Tyros and Genos 1 series with small adjustments, Korg has built a completely new OS from scratch.
It actually gives hope for more possibilities for the PaX5 in the future, and I have great confidence that Korg will make its customers happy.
Cheers

Re: Pa5X OS Update V1.4
Hello everyone. This is my first post in this new year - 2025. First, I am glad that we are all here again and that the forum is working. I hope that we will continue to progress as a society, a community without bad comments because they do not help anyone. It's not hard to be nice.
Many know my opinion about the Korg Pa5x... I have it, but I can't forget the failures of the operating system. It's something that still hurts. Even when the new operating system arrives, the question is whether I will forget all this waiting, fear, nervousness, pressure...
I'll be honest as always. I think that they are announcing something that is not (WOW or OMG ) at all... They are announcing something that the keyboard should have had from the very beginning. It is unacceptable that we wait this long for basic functions. Can you believe that an old arranger that costs 500-1000 EUR has options that the instrument Korg Pa5x does not have, as they say, the best arranger in the world... This seems to me like a kind of apology and covering up all the bad moves and mistakes that have made.
I hope that I am not right and that the new operating system will make us all happy and above all that there will be no bugs, errors and nervousness.
I wish you all the best in the New Year 2025 and may we finally be satisfied, and above all healthy and happy.
Greetings!

I could not agree more. I do hope Korg has learned from its previous mistakes, including how Korg intends to hold on to its customer base, new and old, in the future, will be entirely up to them...Korg2024 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:27 pm Hello everyone. In the meantime, I hope we can enjoy the PA5X as the Design brief intended, and I look forward to further developments with the PA5X, much in the same way we enjoyed with PA4X when OS NEXT was released.

Re: Pa5X OS Update V1.4
If 1.4 is currently in BETA, that means they have to complete the feature set, then go through "at least" two release candidates during which debugging and testing will be performed, so we are looking at another month; "In My Estimation". Test cycles are typically 2 weeks for waterfall projects and/or sprints.
My question is; "What about the PC Songbook Editor application"? When can we see that?

The newly designed Quick Record is exactly what I was hoping and looking for KORG would implement.
Unfortunately, in the next update there will be no new portamento implementation for sounds. I hope they read this and implement a crossfade portamento. And if, I hope it will be an advanced version which allows even more realistic portamento transitions, e.g. clarinet vs. violins are different. EVERY musician I know has the same opinion regarding the garbage portamento implementation in the Pa series.
