Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
What can I say in short, DeJa'Vu. Only minor cosmetic changes. It doesn't deserve a 3, maybe 2 X.
62 Gb SSD (not 120 SSD like someone mentioned upon).
I am really curious where they can found 62 Gb SSD (smaller then sticks)?

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
It's good that they resurrected the Kronos line. All the minor upgrades, like boot time, the responsiveness, the 120GB SSD (which i think it is still small) are welcome too. But...
We all expected, at least i did, to come with some innovations and new features, like pads, led on knobs and faders or a screen over the knobs indicate the current function of them, more polyphony, etc.
Also, they mention a new 'reengineered system architecture'. When i read that, i thought that finally Korg introduced a 64bit OS and finally we whould get more than 3GB or RAM available for all the sample packs we want to load. But as it seems, that is not the case! The specs are the same in this category: PCM RAM Capacity: Approx. 3GB. I hace purchased many EXs libraries from Korg's site and i can't load all of them. I always have to choose which ones i load due to memory restrictions. This is the only thing that disapointed me with this launch.
Another thing is that they didn't add more User Memory for Programs & Combis Why???
The only thing that Korg is not showing us in their teaser video, is the UI of Kronos. I believe they made it more modern and that it will be available only for the Kronos 3 (OS v3.2)

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
Excuse me Mike Conway, for my wrong information ( that's what i heard on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=948aJjXZzf0, so I believed it).
I'm so sorry, but I didn't check on Korg's website.
That is some progress (60 Gb), but nowadays, very small.

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
Hi Pedja,
No need to apologize, since at this time info about the Kronos v2025 is rather confusing and contradictory between different sources. The 62 GB SSD is still specified on certain sites. Another question is the aftertouch (AT), which ended up a ridiculous update for the Nautilus. Reading the current official Korg doc about the Kronos v2025, aftertouch is only mentioned for the 61 key model. So is AT available on the other models as well because they use a RH3 action (and it implies a certain problem) or will there be a ridiculous Kronos v2025 AT model later on for the 73 and 88 actions... Hopefully they won't repeat this mistake as they did for the Nautilus.

Not as much as SpaceX, but yes, Korg is laying it on thick!KK wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 1:27 am At least, Korg should remain modest and omit superlative annoyances such as "Italian grand piano to die for" (it's certainly good, but come on) and "enormous 800 x 600 screen that is more responsive" (well, it is still the same size and my older Kronos screen doesn't lag), etc.

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
Yeah, I now see that enormous is mentioned three times ! One also confirming what Pedja mentioned earlier about SSD size. So very buttery indeed.
"The internal SSD offers a generous 62 GB capacity, providing enormous space for user sampling or downloading additional KRONOS Sound Libraries."
"The nerve center of the KRONOS is KORG’s enormous eight-inch (800 x 600 pixel) SVGA color TouchView display."
"It will expand your conception of a song, and will be an enormously inspiring creative asset for all composing."

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
I'm not saying that you're wrong, because I'm hearing the lower number from people on multiple forums. I would hope that Korg's site is the correct stat, but I'm not even sure about that. I can hope though.Pedja wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 9:10 pm Excuse me Mike Conway, for my wrong information ( that's what i heard on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=948aJjXZzf0, so I believed it).

Could be a rehash of old literature, which is very common in the manuals, promotion, etc. That page has one figure, while the Specifications page has another. Anyone from Korg got the right answer?* SSD capacity is subject to change without notice

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
They probably didn't change the Kronos OS.
Nautilus (6,400 programs, including GM) has more than twice the program slots. It looks like they achieved this by removing the 1,100 + page parameter guide (via HELP button). I think it was worth it. I would rather have the program slots.

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
Is different Kronos OS. New Tine EP I Early was added on EP engine. The Kronos is back in production because you asked for it. Nautilus is different, PCM more refreshment, New SFX, Drum Machines, Programs banks. Important that a lot of programs could be direct load into Kronos, also all your own samples could be load in both units so have sense to me to have both on the stage.Mike Conway wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 7:22 amThey probably didn't change the Kronos OS.

Re: KRONOS Relaunched!
From a software dev perspective, I would expect the "new OS" to be an alignment with the Nautilus OS, probably using a common code base. I expect the UI will visually resemble the look of the Nautilus. Since the Nautilus was effectively a "Kronos Lite" I can't imagine that they would write two completely separate and unrelated OS versions.
Of course, all of this is pure speculation from the cheap seats, as I have no insights on what Korg does behind the cubicle walls.

The Kronos OS was not changed in any way, at least visually. All the pages look the same.
