Does anyone know if I can apply a firmware upgrade to a MicroKorg XL+? I have got a unit which fails to start up with an error message "TxSmPL: CkSumErr".
I can run the diagnostics and it fails Internal Test 3 - Flash ROM Check - all other tests run successfully.
I think I may be able to fix that issue with a new Flash install.
I also startup up the XL+ via Write + Exit/Shift into USB-MIDI mode.
Installed KORG MIDI driver into the laptop and attached USB cable and the driver can see the MicroKorg XL+.
Now here comes the problem; I can't seem to find a Korg System Updater for the XL+.
Contacted Roland support and they sent me the V1.00 and V1.01 system files in VSB format - but how would I apply them?
Any help much appreciated ...

Re: MicroKorg XL+ Firmware Update How To
Hi,
For the mKXL, Korg once released a package to update to version 1.04 of the firmware.
It contains an executable (kmupdate) and a .vsb file.
You could try to replace the .vsb files.
Maybe it works, maybe it won't. At first sight, the exe seems not tied to the mkXL as such.
Try to find it back, I think I saw it on i.korg.com/support, but I do not manage to open the site anymore.
Good luck.
