Will 24pin to 34pin adapter let an X2/X3 use regular drive?

Will 24pin to 34pin adapter let an X2/X3 use regular drive?

Post by dentaku_ »

If I get one of those 24 pin to 34 pin adapters will I be able to then use a regular floppy drive in a Korg X2? The person I'm fixing this for doesn't need something like a Gotek. A regular floppy drive is fine for him.

Are there certain adapters that are better than others?
It's quite a simple circuit so I'm assuming they're all the same.

I have a few old floppy drives that can read and write 720k disks.

I've replaced the belt and everything seems to turn and slide freely but the X2 still can't read disks. The disk spins fine now and I cleaned out all the black gunk left by the old belt but the heads never move.

This one seems to be exactly what I need and from a site that specializes in this but they seem to be all about using it with floppy emulators.
There's no talk about using it with a regular floppy drive but I like that it's shaped in a way that can't block the power connector o certain floppy drives.

Late reply but yes, those work with a standard floppy disk drive. I have a similar board in my X3R and it works fine. The caveat (at least with mine) is that the drive activity light is always on.
