Not a problem if I play from the keyboard itself, but if I drive the Pa5X with a DAW, the German and Italian pianos have a loud knocking sound on every note release. The only piano that doesn't do this is the Austrian. But I want a darker, less tinkly high end, so I'd like to use the German grand, but this noise is ruining the playback.
I don't hear this noise on any of the pianos if I play from the keyboard itself. It's only my work played off a DAW that the piano sounds so different. It literally sounds like someone is taking a 16 oz hammer and hitting a wooden floor in a performance hall, after every note.
What could cause this, and how do I fix it?

The smstome is probably the correct answer if you only hear it when playing through a DAW.
In most cases you can also disable the upper 2 to remove the added piano sound effects.
If you want more control over the piano sound, then I have explained some techniques in my piano tutorial for the pa5x.
