Upgraded floppy drive to usb

I have a USB drive that has been non-functional since installed, but does indeed have power. I have a new USB 3.0 thumb drive and have formatted it for per the Trinity software. Then I performed four hours of work for two different songs saved it all to thumb drive, and turned it off. Upon initializing and trying to load previously saved data the system states that the disc is still unformatted. Please help, very frustrated
