The only thing which is official is that the pandemic is not over nor the shortage of electronic components, supply chain problems, etc. The rest is speculation.

What is not speculation :

- All other Korg synths are available on Thomann shop. For example the last Modwave is immediatly available. So no shortage of components for this synth !!
- Most all brands synths are immediatly available too.
- When a product is currently out of stock but will be available, Thomann put the mention "available in x weeks"
- When a product if definitively abandonned, Thomann withdraw it from the website. They have removed Kronos from the website.
- Some other online music shop has officialy stated the end of Kronos (Sun Music for ex.)
- Despite so called components shortage, official Korg UK has kept all its products on its website...except the Kronos, which has been removed.

The largest music equipment store in my country took off the sale of Kronos last spring. Nautilus took over the primacy of the top workstation from them even then, although that is not the case. It is my personal opinion that Korg will not launch the successor of Kronos on the market. I wish I was wrong.

Sort of double bad news situation here. First the Kronos getting phased out and now the awesome name of, "Omicron" or 'OmiKron" has already been taken and cannot be used for Korg's next flagship workstation's name.

Thanks for info. But, why the name of the new Korg workstation has to be Omicron or OmniKron? It is more logical to be Kronos 3.

P. S. A while ago, I saw that it was the name of the new Corona virus. I did not understand the sarcasm of the message.

Sorry, I think I posted in the wrong forum/thread. But you are right though, who wants to play an instrument named after a virus.

Looking at the Keyboard section of Korg USA, the Nautilus is listed first, with the various Kronos models after that. You would think the more expensive flagship would be first, unless...

Kronos 3 (or something else) has to come….

Post by boj »

otherwise, Korg’s top model will be a workstation (Nautilus) running on outdated hardware (2011 CPU and MB) and 32bit Linux OS. Outdated technology has no future, as it has no processing power, nor memory to deliver the functionality and quality sounds, which the customers demand.

Nautilus had reached EOL even before it was released. Because of it’s outdated technology, it’s a dead end with no room for new features, etc.

Technology doesn’t really play a drastic impact on workstations features/abilities. I mean look at the Apollo Moon landings, old tech that today’s modernized nations, like China, cannot replicate with today’s tech. Unless… you don’t believe that we went to the moon, if so then all bets are off. Also, look at the Nintendo Switch, much lower tech specs than PS5 and the latest XBox X|S series and the Switch is out selling both combined.

Worldwide Sold:
1. Switch - 90,862,199
2. PlayStation 5 - 11,668,132
3. Xbox Series X|S - 7,196,265

The Japanese adopt the notion that better technology doesn't always result in better products.
