Time Signature

Post by patpsc »

Does anyone know how to change the time signature to an existing style? I have a style that has a 2/4 TS, the metronome is kinda slow when playing. I,ve tried to change the TS to 4/4 to have the metronome play double time but it's impossible.

Thanks.

Changing Time Signature of a Style is not possible on Pa4X.
You need to edit it in a DAW.

1- Export your Style from Pa4X into a flash drive.
2- Import it on a DAW, Edit time signature and Export it as midi (format 0).
3- Import the edited style into Pa4X.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your tip. I don't have any popular DAWs such as Cubase or Pro Tool, except Ableton Live. Can I do this on Ableton Live?

Thanks.

actually there is a way of doing it, but it's a tricky one.
First create a new variation or cv and write something on it,using the signature you want, doesn't matter what,as long as there is data in.

Then,create a new cv2

Now,copy the midi from the original part you wanted to change it's signature,to the new cv you just created (or the old, doesn't matter)but not using ''COPY FROM TRACK:ALL'' ''TO TRACK:ALL''.
Instead use e.x ''FROM TRACK:DRUMS'' ''TO TRACK :DRUMS''.
Do this for all tracks idividual ,and you will have the same variation, under different time signature.
Just make sure the signature you use allows it to loop within variation

change time signature with edit function in style record

..
In the style record there are edit functions which are also suitable for implement of different time signatures in a style (New, Copy from Style, Copy from Pad, Cut, Delete).

In manual study "Cutting out measures", "Deleting data from measures" and "Copying from a Style" to get an overview what can be done to customize styles with different time signatures as mentioned by user Korg1.

Thread # 67371 of the german forum describes examples how to implement different time signatures in a style (https://forum.korg.de/index.php?t=msg&goto=67371).
It is possible to change time signatures afterwards and also to accommodate differently changed time signatures (such as half bar fills, 3/4, 4/4) in a style that originally was created with a different time signature.

E.g. you can delete selected measures (or a series of measures) from the selected Chord Variations and all following events will be moved back, to replace cutted measure(s) and most important it is to set/change correct parameters (meter, cv lenght and rec length) for ones personal needs.
kind regards
