Nigel Makepeace

Post by chelsea4023 »

Hello all,

It is with great sadness (particularly for U.K. Members) that I have to announce the passing of Nigel Makepeace. He was the original owner of Keysound Music Store in Leicester U.K. who turned his business into the number one dealer of Korg arrangers in the U.K. The shop was eventually taken over by Steve Dove but Nigel travelled the Country to the keyboard Festivals promoting everything Korg. I enclose a link to Keysounds where anybody interested can read a little about him and there is a link to the 'Book of Condolence' for those that new him personally.

For me, it his warm smile and friendly manner that endeared you to him. He always had time to speak with you and make you feel special. Initially I wasn't one of his customers, but that soon changed. His knowledge of the Korg PA4X was unmatched and whenever you purchased a keyboard from his store he always supplied custom software that filled your user voices with church organ, theatre organ and various additional samples at no extra charge. He also ensured your user styles were filled from previous arrangers. His product support was unrivalled.

He was the same age as me (65) and left us far too early, a truly nice guy. Over the last 18 months, I have hardened to the tragedy brought to us all by Covid 19 but this sad news has truly shocked me. My thoughts and wishes go to his wife Bev, family and colleague Steve.

Thanks Chelsea for letting us here in the UK know about Nigel. My thoughts at the moment are with him and his family. He was far too young to leave us. My Korgs and other stuff have all come from Keysound, I live not too far away. When I visit the shop it`s like a day out. Their aim is to please and I have learnt so much from them. Imagine a shop full of korgs and fellow musicians playing them. I walked in one day and out with a Pa4x.

They have stuffed my Korgs with their own work, things that you will not find from “out of the box”. Steve at Keysound is a star, he is always at the end of the phone with help and patience. As a musician I feel very lucky to have lived not too far from Nigel and Steves shop. Simply the best.

Sad news Chelsea, thanks for post.
