KORG KRONOS or Waiting???

Ahh, but you were wrong to do so! As the Kronos is still unsurpassed, you should have bought (another?) Kronos instead.afr wrote: In the meantime, waiting for the Nautilus, I bought a Fantom that is now in the setup with the Kronos wavestate and D-05
OK, but [whichever the best-selling among workstations is] doesn't tell us anything about whether [workstations are the best-selling segment].kday wrote:I go by numbers.entonio wrote:I have the exact opposite impression, kday wrote: I think the big three know that Workstations are their biggest sellers.
Plus I was told Yamaha's biggest seller. Plus I see Kronos line being the top selling workstations for years at Thomann's europe, and retailers in the U.S.
To say that Kronos is the best selling product of Korg's is like saying that BMW 7-series is their best seller.
The flagship products are for a few and to build the brand.
Then the lower shelf products are more affordable and to sell large volumes due to status of the brand.
- well it is a BMW
The top of the line products is creating knowhow to make the most comfy and luxurious experience for driving and as passenger.
This cost a lot more at first, but what they gain in knowhow can be seated into consumer level products later and find cheaper ways to do it or at least improve on it. How do you insulate from tyres and road noise, how to make slamming door make hardly any noise - just a smooth tick.
On non premium brand cars just slamming a door is like banging two pieces of metal together.
- it would be a head turner in a parking space
- what was that?
- a car crash?
So if wishing for a new Kronos - it's not to sell like crazy that Korg would do that.
Korg management
- we need a new top seller line
it would hardly be a Kronos.
Krome and whatever else is probably more so
- it's a Korg workstation
- the leading brand
- and very affordable
Watch out for competition - sure - but not to increase turnover.
To build the Korg brand they could just as well win more people like Jordan Rudess over to Kronos to enforce their position as leading brand.
Rudess played Kurzweil on live concert dvd's I have from before.
- Who is even talking about Kurzweil anymore?
Korg redefine what a workstation is pretty much
- the competition is just synths with more ketchup on
But they better watch out - not being took over - for branding purposes.
IMHO of course....

" Go by the numbers "
the issue as I see it, is the 3 big dogs are not consistent with their unit sales per year pronouncements
For example, if they simply reported total unit sales world wide, annually per calendar year for each product types, there would less confusion.
For example;
total unit sales for MODX [ all key sizes] , calendar year [ 12/31] ending 2019, or 12/31/19.
and the same for 2018.
And for Kronos annually per year. etc etc etc

The King on the Hill, who is conceited and complacent, can always be overthrown.
I believe in cycles.
Yamaha will reign again...put a CS80 and VL1 'fully blown models' in a work station with a synthesiser control surface interacting with a 10" touch screen and you will be untouchable!! You have a New King Born.

its a temporary MAP reduction for all Kronos models. Only thru 12/31.spottingjonah wrote:Huge sale on Korg Kronos... $500 off all boards. Something is coming.
likely to help lagging sales at retail, as my retail contacts have said kronos sales were lagging for some months due to competition.
my bet is a ' kronos 3 ' is 90% unlikely for 2021.
maybe ' something ' in 2022. but not in early 2021.
price reduction is long over due for this 9 year old keyboard.
Street retail was already banging down Kronos price by $300. So $500 incentive for 55 days is not a huge diff IMO. The temp MAP reduction makes holiday sale targets easier.
All retailers and co's like Korg depend on strong holiday sales.
