I took a spill from my mountain bike this am and fractured my left elbow.

arm in a cast , bent 90 degrees and in a sling.

left arm is out of business for 6-8 weeks . which will slow down my song writing.

there is a silver lining, somewhere,,, less house chores ?

Sorry to hear that, Greg. Use some of Karma-Lab combis. Start the combi off with you free hand, then play over top of the GE patterns with the zoned upper registers programs for leads etc. Also use your free/working hand to change scenes, chords etc. Do it on the beat. It will be fine. You can go without your bummed out hand/arm till it heals enough. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I too had a bike mishap few weeks back. Really embarrassing. Wasn't moving hardly. Trying to go, but hung up on a rock. Couldn't get foot out of clip and so I went down hard on my side. Handle bar went on my hand/wrist with my weight. Thought of an xray, but could move it ok. Just have a click at times, so another added to the collection. Doesn't effect my playing.
Same thing happened to a someone I know but messed his tendons up.
With this covid virus i'm working out more with running and biking.
But man, it can be dangerous with traffic.

thx for the post. my story is similar

I was avoiding 5 people on a trail, turned off, rear wheel clipped a curb.

down I go , on my side , arms tucked in and left elbow took the force of the
fall.

I always a helmet and gloves. my gloved hand took some weight initially, but I am + 200 lbs.
I heard my elbow crack. I also took a helmet bounce on the asphalt. helmet did the job.

I guess it could have been worse.

Yikes! Glad to hear you're still in one piece, Greg.

My best friend was coasting down a steep apartment parking lot, standing up in the stirrups as you do, and hit a speed bump. He pivoted face first onto the asphalt (no helmet) and was in surgery for 12 hours while they rebuilt the wall between his sinuses and his brain (50 / 50 chance of not making it). He was your size, and yet it's amazing how fragile the human body can be.

As for the cast, hopefully you're right handed. On the other hand (er, no pun intended), art is often driven by limitations and boundaries. Maybe this will take your songwriting someplace new by playing one handed and inspire you to create in a different and rewarding direction.

Jogger, another friend of mine heard clicking while he was laying in bed and it was a broken rib, with the two bones clicking as they flexed past each other. I'm no fan of the medical-industrial complex, but an xray isn't the worst idea ever.

I'd appreciate it if everyone would try to avoid killing themselves if at all possible. I don't make friends as fast as I used to so it would be very inconvenient to have to restock.

I play most bass parts on LH. I need LH for extended chords.
also working the joy stick.

my last song. on my soundcloud ' karma can't wait ' is one handed.

I have an xl mountain bike, with fat tires. I bang on curbs, obstructions frequently.

I must have struck the side of the curb just right, with the rear wheel, to lose momentum, while fishtailing.

I always wear a helmet and gloves, this saved my dumb brain, as I smacked the asphalt.

some good news, I sold my FA-07, taking delivery of a MODX 8 Friday/saturday.
will have lots of time to study it.

Karma can't wait? Funny on too many levels.
(The title of course, not the song, which is quite nice).

This is why I don't own a motorcycle. I'd ride the same way I drive and be dead in a week.

I took a sharp left into a parking lot with curbs in my Vette years ago (okay, I was doing 60), and heard 8 distinct thunks as I fishtailed sideways and each wheel banged over the curb and then back off again. Put a two inch notch in one wheel, but the only damage was to the car. Try that stuff on a Harley and they'll be scraping you off the pavement. So the lesson for me was, "know thyself."

I only use the DAW to record (Cubase in my case), so it's easy to lay down multiple overlapping parts. I could lay down MIDI for the right hand, then put the left hand on another track, then just point them both the the keyboard and press record. Not sure if you record exclusively into the Kronos or into a DAW, so layering may not be as easy for you.

Cool new toy! The demos I've seen make it look like a lot of fun. Looking forward to hearing what you do with it.

That is truly a total bummer.

Have you thought about a footswitch to trigger the pads, one with a sweepable pedal to change your KARMA scenes? My foot controller generates midi CC's, I went for years with my M3 where I was playing parts with my foot while doing guitar. I always had a spare so if you are interested I'll look in the closet. Yamaha MFC10, it's programmable, each button can be momentary or latched and the pedal can be constrained to 8 values for your scenes. Works great with the Kronos too. Let me know. You can borrow it until you heal.
