Controller Sustain Pedal set up

Post by lunaluna »

I'm sure it can be done just haven't been able to figure it out. I'm connecting a 49Key Controller to my K2 61 ..I made a Combi and on Channel 2 I'm sending an EP sound to the Controller .I have a sustain Pedal connected to the controller ,how or where do I go to set it up to where the EP I'm playing on the Controller is Controlled by the Sustain Pedal connected to the controller ?

Any help is greatly appreciated .

I don't know how to get a sustain pedal that is attached to the Controller to work. But if there is a sustain pedal attached to the Kronos, I can set out how you can get that to work with the Controller. Would that help?

Which is the global MIDI channel of your Kronos?

Ok. Need to clear things up and set some ground rules. First of all you are not "sending an EP sound to the Controller" There is no sound (aka audio) being sent this way. Your controller sends MIDI data on a transmit channel. How are the 2 devices connected? USB or 5 pin MIDI DIN? Who manufactures the controller and what model is it? You said you are on "Channel 2". MIDI Channel 2 or "Timbre 2"? There is a difference. The best way to make this work is:
Set you controller's transmit MIDI channel to a MIDI channel other than the one that the Kronos is on (usually 1).
Lets set the transmit Channel on your controller to MIDI Channel 2.
Then in your Combi go to the Timbre that you EP is in.
Let's say that is Timbre 2.
In the MIDI tab set the MIDI Channel for that Timbre to 2. This is the Kronos receive channel for that Timbre.
So now you controller is sending its data on MIDI Channel 2 and since your EP in Timbre 2 is receiving on MIDI Channel 2 you should be able to hear the EP sound AND use the damper pedal connected to you controller.
You will have to consult your controller's documentation to find out how to set its MIDI transmit channel.
