How To Save?

Post by DIAMANTE »

I am not sure and I don't want to make a mistake regarding saving my settings to the card. I see several choices but I don't want to make a mistake and delete some of my settings. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I believe that if you save all as PCG, you will be able to keep your settings.

You will be able to get them back by loading the PCG file again.

It's pretty straightforward once you understand how the Save/Load system works. PCG files can contain Program,Combi,Global settings data. Sequencer files are stored separately in the SNG format. So if you choose SAVE ALL, it will generate 2 different files. It will save all your Program and Combi banks as well as your current Global settings to a PCG file. Your Sequencer data will get saved to the accompanying SNG file. If you don't want to save everything, you can also drill down and save and load specific banks, or omit the Global settings and Sequencer data from your save.

Korg has a video that explains Media mode pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkqgObv6aqg

I pressed Media, then I highlighted NEWFILE.PCG and I have two choices, OPEN OR LOAD. At this point I'm confused and don't want to make a mistake. What should I do?

I believe that OPEN will allow you to browse the patches contained in the PCG file. LOAD will actually load that data into the active patch banks/internal memory. Make sure that you have your current active patch banks backed up before you load a PCG, as loading a new PCG will overwrite your patches that are currently active in the internal memory.

I actually want to save to the card, not the internal memory. Any help is appreciated.

You want to be in the SAVE tab in Media mode if you want to back up the internal banks to SD card. It's explained pretty well in the video I posted. They go over saving to and loading from SD card.

Thanks. Here's what I see in the SAVE mode. I highlighted NEWFILE.PCG, then the choice is either OPEN or LOAD. Do I select LOAD to save to the card, or is that going to LOAD whatever is on the card, which does not have the new modifications back onto the keyboard?

Thanks
