Stereo Limiter keeps sneaking into my effects uninvited?

Post by Scarecrow »

Hi Guys,

I have noticed that an inset effect "stereo limiter" keeps appearing in my effects tree, normally at the bottom with no routing without me doing it, is there a reason for this?

When you copy programs, those are usually there for the Drum track/program. It's not there in blank programs but in the Korg-provided sounds.

On a side note, you probably do want to have a limiter in your effect chain all the time. Being a digital device, without a limiter if things get too loud you will get bad sounding clipping. On the other hand, if things don't get too loud, then the limiter will do absolutely nothing.

Unless you are trying to figure out how much headroom you need, it is probably best to have a limiter at the end of your signal chain all the time.

(I'm saying this from a general signal processing point of view, not a kronos point of view - it is possible that there actually is a limiter built in all the time, but I suspect it will just clip)

There's no limiter built into the Kronos all the time - It'll put out as hot as possible so you can drive the digital side of things to all heck and it sounds terrible lol.

But from the Kronos perspective, it's not in the chain - if it's the one I think they're talking about it's just for the drum channel, and that's it.
