Stuck notes on lead patches

Post by MusicianSickness »

My buddys kronos first gen does the same thing. Mine is kronos 2...he pointed the bug out to me 2 days ago...the bug is only on lead sounds.
Wtf!!!!
Obviously a bug in the midi engine...
Anybody have a fix?

Hi,

I have only ever had stuck notes on the Kronos when I managed to get the CC programming on my FC300 pedal wrong. Some FC300 patches happened to use the same CC as the sustain pedal.....

I was convinced it was a Kronos issue, but had to eat humble pie when I discovered the cause. Is it possible this might be an external influence as well?

If not, how can you recreate the problem? I.e. What steps can you advise others to try so we can see if the problem is recreated on our setups?

Oh, the above is not quite true I currently have a stuck note problem on my new computer setup when I route MIDI data to ANY synth (including the Kronos) hanging off my MOTU MIDIEXPRESS interface. I have yet to fully resolve it yet, but from internet research it appears to be an isssue that my MOTU MIDIEXPRESS interface does not like hanging off a USB3 port. So I have to locate a USB2 port on the weekend to try it. I just thought I'd mention it just in case.....

Both happen while the keyboard is transmitting or receing midi data.
My os is what came with kronos2, not a fan of upgrading.
I will look into the cc data...we were both using pedals.
Why would a lead use a sustain cc message?

I also should mention that its just one key that sustains....the c sharp mid octave on a 61 key
On lead patches only.
Crazy.
Have only had it happen to me once...my buddy says it happens to him once a month, he gigs 3 days a week...

I don't know the cause, but when probably pressing the COMPARE switch, its state is corrected. Try it.

Hello fellow Korg users! My first time here...anyway, I bought my Kronos 2 73 last April and hardly ever used it for gigs...mostly sitting in my studio desk. Still at 3.0 and thinking if I should upgrade to latest software. Nothing is wrong with my Kronos and it's really fantastic...until yesterday...I had the patch "fooling yourself" in my setlist whenever I feel to just go wild and stuff...and there it is...the stuck note...sometimes it's on the higher C and sometimes on the lower...depending where I am. Changed patches and they are fine but when I return to the patch, it's still there. Yes I panicked but the good thing is I wasn't at a gig. Reboot the thing and it was gone. The only thing I could remember what could have caused this was when i powered on the Kronos, while loading, I connected the audio cables...I don't think I wanna do that again as it might cause further problems...if that was the case. At any rate, I wish Korg could come up with a "panic" or "refresh" button or command...also, would be nice to have a separate on/off switch for each engine...idk...just thinking wild. Good day everyone!! :-)

I found in most cases pressing the "compare" button stops running sounds.

If it's only ever one key getting stuck, I would be looking at that key as the possible problem. These products use rubber contacts that after a while, can wear out, get dirty or deformed. Once a key contact is not "firing" correctly, anything is possible. No sound, sounds at max or min velocity, doesn't stop sounding. You could record the MIDI and see if when it hangs, a MIDI off event is missing.

I work on keyboards so I would jump in there and get a good visual. In fact, I'm planning on buying some replacements soon, just in case. (4 years old)
