I've had my kronos 2 a couple of weeks now, working my way through the manuals and watching youtube BUT can you help with a simple problem.
I'm trying to create a combo from scratch, so from power on, press combi button, select an empty user bank then play the keyboard, it plays the grand piano, all good so far. I then select channel 1 and change the timber, this works fine and I can change the volume and pan using the sliders and knobs. I select channel 2, choose a different instrument and then play the keyboard. only the instrument on channel 1 plays even though I can adjust the volume and pan of channel 2. soloing channel 2 gives no output.
If I choose a preloaded combi I can change the timbres at will and all is fine. I have tried the drop down menu, initialise combi but again that has no effect.
what am I doing wrong please?
help with a basic combo

Have you tried setting the midi channel to 1? Also if you find a prog that you like, you can then co to combi, use the drop down menu and select that prog for your sound. It gives you IFX, MFX, and TFX options too. I usually choose the IFX that I need and not necessarily all of them but that's just me.
Good luck!

Definitely sounds like a Midi Channel problem.
When you first arrive at your empty Combi, you are in the Play tab down in the bottom left of your touch screen. The next tab to the right is called "EQ Vector/Control" The next one to the right is Timbre Parameter. This is the one you want. If you select it, you should see the following sub-tabs: MIDI, OSC, Pitch, Delay, Wave Seq/Karma, EXi Audio Input.
You want the MIDI tab. It's the very first one. You should see that the first timbre is set to "01G". The next timbre is "02". Change 02 to 01G so that it's assigned the same MIDI channel as timbre 1.
You Kronos will play all the timbres that are set to 01G because this is the primary channel, which can be changed in the Global settings.
After you've set all your timbres to 01G, you may want to split your keyboard. That can be done in the MIDI Fitler/Zones tab, which is located to the right of the Timbre Parameter tab. The sub-tab you want is called Keyboard Zones
And yes! As Jeremy says, the "Copy From Program" command from the tiny drop-down menu at the top right corner of your screen is your friend.

No Program control changes on Hx3
I have a kronos and I use o1g on the kronos and set up the Hx3 on ch 9. when I send program changes my Hx3 will not change from the live set up. I cant get it to go lets say to program 1 save. I was in set list and was told that combination mode will only sent midi PC. Even in combination mode I cant get it to work.
I cant thank you enough! I picked up my email at 6:30am and was playing my first combi at 7 this morning! and yes the split is the next progression so your message was spot on. i must have missed this in the manual, i wonder if this should be the default state of the keyboard as the creating basic combi in the manual misses this out. So i will try and search through the global settings to make this the default state on my keyboard.Perilous wrote:Definitely sounds like a Midi Channel problem.

When I make Combis, I tend to use a similar setup on each one. Two sounds on the Kronos 61 (upper keyboard) and two sounds on the P-80 (lower keyboard) is the basic starting place. If a stem is used, I place it on the 16th slot.
So, I have a template in the form of Combi 1 in my user bank that I grab to start a new Combi. This way, a lot of settings are already set the way I need. Even the Karma settings for two keyboards sharing pedals etc. All the output assignments and effects.
This can be a great time saver... Pull up your template, make necessary changes and save it under a new name in a new slot. Over the years I've tweaked the template Combi making even less time involved in making a new one.
Good luck!

I'm not sure where it is on the instructional video but apparently it's very easy to make a split. It's not something that I use much because of the way I play but when I do, I do it from a tab in the combi mode. It's the harder way but I'm usually creating fairly complex combis.
Ones where my pedal also can add sounds when I push the pedal forward.
Also when I'm using velocity, depending on how hard I hit the actual keyboard.
The Kronos is an amazing beast!
I've had mine just over 5 years and I really consider myself a beginner.
