I bought the mighty Oasys 88 in 2005.
It was the core in my live rig for 10 years together with Roland A-70.
Now i have the Kronos 2 88 together with same A-70. Amazing rig and it covers all my needs.
Never ever had any issues with the Oasys and I expect the same build quality with my Kronos 2.
And I must say that Roland back then produced the best master keyboards in the world with A-70 and A-90 and I haven't still seen anything even close to what they can do.
I own quite some Korg synths/workstations, but the difference with a Kronos towards a previous version was never so great (Oasys excepted, but never could afford it).
I've had my K73 for a couple of weeks over 5 years. I still surprises me!
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!
Looked at a few Montage demos lately out of curiosity, but it still can't beat the Kronos, at least for what I want to do.
I find many Kronos sounds still way better.. Fulfills my current needs still after 4 years of usage.
I do like to Montage Super Knob though. That might be an option for an OS upgrade on the Kronos perhaps, giving alternative usage to the value dial? E.g. going from one drawbar setting gradually to a completely different one and back seems cool to me..

I'm sure there is. Are you talking about cross fading from one sound to another by using a fader?

Yes, maybe with some tricks we can do this on the Kronos as well, but e.g. changing 8 effects settings with one knob from one setting gradually to another I think is not possible on Kronos. Same with 8 drawbars. Fading in and out two programs with different drawbar settings yes, but changing 8 drawbars from one setting gradually to another setting with smooth changes not.. Anyway, still more than happy with the Kronos, but there are always some wishes left.

I've only had mine for a few weeks and used it on two gigs so far, but already I agree fully, it is the best-sounding, most powerful, and best designed, most useful, gig-friendly keyboard I've had in thirty+ years of gigging, mostly on workstation type boards from pretty much every manufacturer. Like the OP, I'm using mine as a sole sound source (where for years I've always wanted to use at least two), and only using a second keyboard underneath as a controller for more keyboard real estate. Even then, between the great Set List UI and the wonderful patch remain feature when switching between set list slots, well, before a gig now I'm gonna think hard about whether I really need the second board, those features (and the mixer sliders!) make it so easy to get around that most songs, even where I use a whole bunch of sounds split or layered, I can still cover just on my K2's little 61 keys, that's how easy it easy so set up and switch between multiple setups even within one song. (It's a small thing but even the ability to color-code your set list slots makes that operation a lot easier; so if I have two or three slots I'm going to use in one song, I'll give them the same color and they'll stand apart from all the other slots making it easy to find and go to the next one in a split-second even in the heat of battle at a gig.) Yeah I'm a really happy camper.
