Kronos 2 freeze after I plug in USB flash

Post by rolemodel »

KRonos 2 61 with 3.0.4

today ive tried to plug in USB flash memory for a few times but when i select RDD instead of HDD the kronos freezes. the keyboard still sounds but the display and the buttons don't work. i have to power it off and on. Any idea of why this happens?

ps flash memory was formated in KRonos

thanks

ok Thanks

i already read those 2 posts but none of them had an answer for my problem(in case im doing somthng wrong) or a solution for freezing.
The problem is that i cant load anything with the usb ports jammed.

is there a way to safe remove the usb from kronos ?

I don't have the " 2" and I have zero problems with any USB thumb drive.

If your Kronos is off, wait 10 seconds, then remove the USB. I do not boot up my Kronos with a USB thumb drive. I insert it after.

You did not say whats on your USB: maybe there are some file types the Kronos does not like. Try using a new USB, then Korg Fat32 format that

Obviously something in OS 3.0.4 if affecting thumb drives/USB ports. This is at least the third issue reported on the forum in a week after 3.0.4 was installed. Hopefully a fix will be included in a upcoming OS.

As SanderXpander said, try another USB drive. Maybe it's a bug related to it.

i ve tried guys. today was the 4th that i tried. i managed to korg format it(FAT32) , copied some wave files from my pc on it...put it back on , managed to selec RDD and after that it freezed.
the thing is that i never tried the usb ports while it had the 3.0.3 os and i dont know if its a software or a hardware problem.

all i know is that i cant load or save any files on external memory
very very dissapointed :(

rolemodel, describe the steps you've made in order to others folks try to reproduce it.

That way you may discover if it's your kronos or a unknow bug.

rolemodel,
it sounds like your experience is a little more severe than those of us that have had some trouble.
It's only happened a couple of times for me, and evidently not at all for Greg. I've only had it happen twice on my Kronos X and not at all on the Kronos 2. This lead me to initially believe that it was the hardware difference that exposed the software bug on one system and not the other, but I notice you have a 2-61 with the problem. So given the apparent sporadic nature, it could even just come down to something like different manufacturers of batches of USB controller chips installed on the motherboards. Such is the nature of obscure software issues. Other than the obvious first steps which have already been suggested...like trying different USB sticks, and removing as soon as the file transfers are done, nobody as yet has a work around. Perhaps a different USB stick will be less problematic and at least allow you to get the transfer done :-)
But be confident that if it truly is a new bug, and affects enough people, Korg will address it.
By the way, I know on the Forum is not the place for reporting bugs, but I tried looking for where to do this at Korg and around the web. Can anyone tell me where to go to actually report one?

so...

1.i inserted the 1st stick ....format it and after 1 minute when all was over i unplugged it.
2. copied some 2-3 wav files from my pc
3. i inserted back ...managed to listen some wav files , made some samples
4. then i erased all the samples that was loaded on internal hdd
5. next time when i opened kronos asked me if i want to delete temp files, said yes
(dont know if 3-5 has anything to do with my problem)

yesterday everytime i inserted the stick ,then DISK , then to select RDD, when i touch INternal HDD arrow and opens the menu HDD or RDD freezes

today with another stick -> insert, disk ,select rdd, when i try to open the sample folder freezes

anyways i will try a factory reset ( that means that i will lose all my work) and i will let you know if the problem persists

Might be worth checking for hidden files.

Also, with some of the larger USB drives, it's best not to pull the drive out for quite a while after the last operation was done.

I remember backing up some large folders from a laptop onto USB memory stick, about 47GBs worth, and deciding to cancel before even the first file had been copied, dutifully selecting eject, waiting for the OK to remove drive message before pulling out the stick, as one should, and trashing it beyond recovery because Windoze hadn't really, truly, finished with it! The Kronos doesn't offer an eject option, hence the need to wait.

Guys, weirdest thing this weekend. I used my worst stick on Kronos and its working flawlessly. This time i didn't format it in KRonos. Maybe this is causing the issue?>

from what i remember when ive tried the other memsticks , one of them i formated back in the pc but still didn't work.

my opinnion is that for the money paid there should not be a problem with mem sticks or other perriferals . I should not lose all this time trying to figure it out how to make the usb ports work.

Hope someone from Korg reads this
