Hello I have downloaded pre-recorded midi files onto my laptop I am using the sounds from my laptop built in sound card which are pretty naff can I link up my krome to my pc and use the sounds from my krome to my origional pre recorded midi files so that I get a better sound quality many thanks Richard

The Krome's sequencer supports standard MIDI files. Copy the MIDI file to a memory card and load it into a song in the sequencer.

The bank map used depends on the global Bank Map setting, e.g. Bank Map GM(2) if the MIDI file conforms to the General Midi specification.

yes I can do that but I prefer to use the DAW for editing Im not that smart with the ins and outs of the krome is the way I mentioned possible many thatnks Richard.

The Krome can be used in a DAW. The DAW can treat it as a software synthesiser, so pretty much anything that can be done using other software instruments should be possible with the Krome.

I guess I will have to learn how to configure and hear playback midi files from krome to DAW many thanks though Richard

Which DAW is it? There will almost certainly be someone on here who can outline how to route MIDI file playback on the particular DAW to the Krome.

To use the Krome as a VST, the sequence of things to get it going would be:

1. Install Cubase - presumably done already.

2. Install the Krome Editor and Plug-in Editor, downloadable from:

under the heading: Software.

3. Set the plug in editor up in Cubase. The Krome Editor zip file includes a user manual showing the required Cubase 6.5 host settings.

The following link shows the Krome Plug-in Editor as it should appear in Cubase. Click on the image about 2-3 screens down the page.

Not sure what the next thing to do should be as I don't have Cubase, but with the above steps done, it should be possible to experiment e.g.

4. Use HALionOne with the preferences option set to "Import To Instrument Tracks" on the MIDI-MIDI File page.

5. Import the MIDI file. This should automatically set up instrument tracks with HALionOne as the associated instrument. If the Krome is not available, test out other options.

The Krome's audio outputs can be listened to, as is. If they are to be mixed in with other Cubase sounds, then the Krome's audio outputs will need to be routed to a suitable audio-in on the computer. The Krome will need to be connected to the computer via USB cable, of course.

This video may be of some help. It's for using the Kronos as a VST in Cubase, but the principles should be the same. The actual tutorial bit doesn't get going until about 3:50 into the video. Spectrasonics Omnisphere is a very nice VST instrument to have. The video gives a good idea of the sonic possibilities:

hello I have copied a midi track on to my sd card when i play back in my krome I get the pre recorded sounds that were made I want to change the sounds and save them and transfer them onto my sd card any suggestions please .
