Convered the .STY files extension to .SET files extesion

Hello Everyone,

I understand that the styles in the Direct Access SET's folder have to be with .SET extension format in order to play directly from it.

The problem is I have hundreds of styles with .STY extensions that will need to be converted to .SET file format...

Does anyone know how to do this faster than having to load one by one to the keyboard then save it to the USB or to the Direct Access location?

For ex: is there any software that can do this in bulk?

You just need to put the .STY files in a ".SET" folder

Yes, you understand me correctly!
So I just create a .SET folder in the Direct Access and drop all my .STY Styles into it?
If this is the case, then it bring up my next question is what happen if my .STY files are alphabetically stored in A, B, C etc folders? Will this still work?

Actually you need another folder named "STYLE" that .STY files must be included , summary recognized architecture must be
"YourSet.SET\STYLE\.STY" and official STY names (based on Pa3X) are "FAVORITE01-12.STY" and "USER01-03.STY".
Pa4X might support any STY names but all must be under the same "STYLE" folder without any other subfolders.

.STY extension in Korg is not single Style, is Bank of styles. (Yamaha has same extension, but for single style.)

Unless they change in Pa4x.
.SET folder contain folder named STYLE, where is all banks:

BANK01~13
FAVORITE01~12 (not sure)
USER01~03 (not sure)

Not sure how many and how big banks is in Korg Pa4x.
I don't think you got unlimited space for styles in Direct Access.
According to manual Direct is copy of full Favorite + User.
so... you can only put in one SET up to 528 in 11 banks Styles, but you can have many sets with different Sets names.

On page 921 of the Guide, it said:

"Please note you can only have a single Direct set of banks for the Styles, and a single one for the Keyboard Set Library."

Does this meant we can only create one Direct Access for Styles with 10 Favorites Banks and 3 Users Banks? Or we can create more SET folders with different names and change the Preference to point to which SET to be used each time?

in each bank can take as our example .:
Favorite01.STY a maximum of 6 pages , each of the eight styles. (6x8 = 48 style)

Ingredients:
FAVORITE01.STY
FAVORITE02.STY
FAVORITE03.STY
...
FAVORITE10.STY (10x48 = 480)
then +
USER01.STY
USER02.STY
USER03.STY (3x48 = 144)
Total (480 + 144 = 624

Style Direct bank is the same
DIRECT STYLE FAVORITE STYLE + 624 + 624 = 1248

Factory style 13 banks (13x48 = 624) 624 including the empty positions

total possible number of styles is available immediately Factory 13 banks x48 + Favorite 10 banks x48 + Favorite USER 3x48 + Direct 10xbank x48 + Direct User 3x48 = 1872 together styles

Hi,

The preferred procedure to create a Direct Style set is easy:

1. Load to the Favorite and User banks any Style you want in the Direct Style banks.
2. Save All as a new .set.
3. Select this .set as the Direct Style banks.

You can have as many Direct sets as many .sets you have in your disks. Just, one at a time can be selected.

Thank you Paolo, that works!

PA4x will converted the .SET file if need to the corrected .SET it required to load the styles.

I just wish there is a faster way to load the .STY files to the .SET folder located in the Direct Access.

As far as I can tell, for now we can only load one styles at a time to the .SET folder in Access Direct!!!

Can KORG do anything to help?

I don't know a quicker way than loading to the internal memory the Styles you need in your Direct banks, and then saving.

If it may help, you can also copy and paste multiple Styles in a single bunch from the internal memory to the Direct banks.

Thanks for your suggestion regarding copy styles from internal memory to Direct Access, but most of my .STY files (in the thousands) are now stored in a USB devices.
Can I copy styles in bulk from USB to Direct Access .SET folder?

I would do the opposite:

1. Connect the USB device.
2. Select the .set folder, containing the Styles to collect, as the Direct .set.
3. Copy from the Direct to the internal (User, Favorite) locations.
4. Select a different .set folder as the Direct folder.
5. Copy from the new Direct folder.
6. Go on with subsequent .set folder, selected as Direct .sets.
7. Save All the internal memory as a new .set.
8 Use the new .set folder as the Direct .set.
