How to use the vocoder on the Kronos?
Hi everybody, with my cover band we are planning to play Radio Gaga by Queen and I'd like to play the Vocoder. I followed instructions videos on internet with the Bus on 1, IFX vocoder..etc. I can hear me but very low, even with the mic gain level at max, it's clipping on the Kronos but not loud on my monitors. Does anyone could explain me how to set up right the vocoder on the kronos if I want to play this song please? Thank you very much for your help

You might need an external preamp. Here is an excerpt from the Kronos manual...
Use the MIC setting (switch in out position) only when connecting a microphone. Note that some microphones, such as condensers, may require external phantom power, which is not supplied by the KRONOS. In this case, use an external mic preamp, and then connect the preamp to the KRONOS.

You may want to refer what "instruction videos" you followed, then one can guess what could go wrong...pkarr wrote:I followed instructions videos on internet with the Bus on 1, IFX vocoder..etc. I can hear me but very low, even with the mic gain level at max, it's clipping on the Kronos but not loud on my monitors.
What sound (program) you use for carrier?
What are you vocoder IFX parameters?
How do you route modulator (your voice) to Vocoder IFX?
Can you hear sound ok when using "standadrd vocoder program" UA127? with Mic in Input 1 (you need to press keys and make noise/speak to mic to produce sound

Kronos is not very demanding in mic selection, any dynamic would work OK for basic vocoder.

this is the video i followed where he shows the way to set up the vocoder. Yes of course i'm playing the notes while i'm speaking LOL.
I do exactly what he does in his video, maybe there is something not configured in my kronos that he doesn't show. Thanks

Well, I do not understan all that video but seems, that if followed properly then vocoder should work.
Some things to try to localise where the problem lies
try some preset settings in your vocoder IFX - does that change output volume? If you can hear yourself OK with some setting then tweak vocoder IFX settings to your like
try to remove vocoder IFX from IFX chain - does original timbre play as loud as you want? If not, then find what is causing low volume (program or effecect (IFX, MFX, TFX)
try to route your mic input 1 Bus select L/R (in Aundio In/sampling page) instead of FX CTRL Bus - do you hear yourself OK - this should route mic to L/R (beware feedback, lower your gain/volume) - to see if your mic works properly with Kronos
