This is how you do it. Many thanx to Dan Stesco for the guide.

Open SEQ mod.
Import a DRUM program from upper right corner MENU bar."Copy From
Program". Now you have the drums on track 1. Press a key to check.

Open page P10 Pattern/RPPR.
Open MENU bar (upper right corner) and press Pattern Parameter (is a
6'th from the list), to choose the time signature and length. Maximum
length is a 99 measure.

Now you have a loop ready for record with time signature and length
that you choose.

Fix the resolution for more accuracy (is hi by default, better set 16
for heavy metal). Set the tempo to have a real play feeling. The tempo
can be adjust after recording.

REC in real time. Is better to have the real balance and fill. To erase
one note, mark the "Remove Data" and strike the specific Key in the real
time witch want to be erase.

Be sure that you start the loop with measure 1. (sometimes when I work
in a continuous loop I strike the cymbal from beginning on measure 2)
When your pattern is Done, open the PAttern Name sub page. Is near the
"Pattern Edit" in the lower side of the display.

Open the Menu bar in the P10 page (upper right corner) and choose
"Convert to Drum Track Pattern" Is in the right side list nr.5.
Now your own pattern will be User Drum Track pattern.

Second Way: Make a DT pattern from the MIDI file.

Import a midi file in the SEQ. Select the program manually if the midi
file not Open correct Drum Program.

Open P10 Pattern/RPPR
open Menu Bar (upper right corner) "Pattern Parameter" and choose the
time signature and length (number of measure)

Open again the menu bar and choose "Get From Track"
a new window will be open where you will find the Track from where you
must import the data into the Pattern and the measure where you start
importing the data.

Rename the pattern.

Open the Menu bar in the P10 page (upper right corner) and choose
"Convert to Drum Track Pattern"
Thats it !!!

---source is empty!

I tried to follow this guide again and again and the result is always the same----source is empty.

Is there a video somewhere showing how to do this?

Hmmm... when do you see this message - when you try to "Copy to Drum Track" ?

Usually the message is telling you that you haven't actually recorded anything into the track / pattern that you're working on. This technique definitely works - perhaps try checking after you've recorded some drum strikes that there's midi data in the pattern.

If all else fails, do the following:
  • 1. In SEQ mode, put a drum kit on track 1, then press record and hit a couple of keys to record your rhythm.

    2. Go to the Parttern/RPPR page, and from the "pattern name" tab, use the "Get From Track" menu to copy the rhythm from Track 1 into a pattern slot.

    3. Go to the "pattern name" tab and give the pattern a meaningful name.

    4. Use the "Convert to Drum Track" menu to save the pattern as a drum track.

I think this might be the case. I must have been trying to simply copy a drum pattern to a user drum pattern so I can edit it without recording it to a track first.
