Need help w/ how to sample into the Kronos!

Hi guys,

So, my question is:

I want to sample some of my sounds from my motif Es 61 in to my Kronos x 61.

I've never sampled before so I would really appreciate your help. I been searching on YouTube and found a few tutorials but no one where it explains the operation I would like to do..

I have plugged in my motif w/ a stereo cable in to the back of the Kronos (audio input 1 (L) + 2 (R) ) and pressed the sampling button on the Kronos.

At the audio input tab I set the "bus select" input 1 + 2 to L/R, so now I can hear my motif in the Kronos.

So.. From here I'm lost..haha

I would really appreciate all the help if possible like a step by step / or if you know of a video tutorial (in English) that describes this type of action..

First of all I wanna sample a organ sound..

Honestly I would really discourage you from trying so sample something like a complete organ from another keyboard on the Kronos. I don't know how much free time you have but I don't think the Motif organ could be THAT special that it's worth spending days on.

If you had some experience with this it might be different but even so it would be quite an undertaking doing it on the Kronos itself.

I thought it was gonna be an sort of a easy task once I got it.. But now I'm not sure after what you just said.lol.. I just enjoy that organ on the motif called amped, it's punchy and cuts thru very nice, and I haven't been able to find anything similar in the Kronos..

Do u have any experience in sampling on the Kronos? Is it possible to get the sound sounding the way that u want..?:)

It would probably be a better use of your time to spend it learning how to edit the Kronos organs to sound like the one you like - because then you know how to edit things in the future.

It should not be that difficult to analyse an organ patch on the Motif and to recreate it on the Kronos...

True.. But I was also hoping to take some of the other sounds that I love and put them in Kronos, but I realize now from the replays that I revived here that it ain't gonna b as easy as I hoped... Lol

It's pretty easy to sample a basic one shot sound. It's a lot more work and takes a lot more skill to
1. Sample another keyboard across a large note range
2. Correctly loop non-decaying sounds like organs
3. Create multiple switching velocity layers that feel natural

None of these things are impossible, I just wouldn't recommend them to someone with no experience doing any of them.

Using computer software to automate some of these things would help.

Yes I think the time would be better spent programming that sound on the Kronos.... the kronos organs are quite a bit better than anything you'd find on the motif es.... (in my opinion) did you get the free organ patches that Korg put out some time ago? have you tried or heard them?
