AKAI MPC 2000xl vs Electribe Sampler ESX2???
Hey guys so I have been doing a hybrid setup for the past few years an an MP3 2000xl and protools using native instruments plugins.
I had the chance to test out the electribe synth recently and was really impressed. I am curious if you think the sampler version could take the place of my MPC?
My workflow is to sample into the MPC, chop the sample up and layer preloaded samples on top.
My biggest concern is that on the MPC I have 4 groups of 16 pads. I'm generally using at least 32 pads (samples) per song.
How many samples can I use with the korg ESX2 per song? Do the 16 pads allow for multiple groups of 16 like the MPC?
Also any other thoughts on how the korg sampler workflow compares to an MPC 200xl
Thanks for the info!!

All I've heard so far with the Electribe Sampler is that that it does auto-slicing by detecting transients. Hopefully it will do it by regular intervals too which is how I often prefer to chop instead of by transients.
The Electribe Sampler will be more immediate to use, especially because of all the hands-on controls and the ability to tweak while the sequencer is playing. One of the limitations of the MPC sequencer is that you have to stop the sequencer constantly just to make some adjustments.

Yup. Both can do many things the other can't. Automating (Motion Sequencing) is another area that is much more powerful and immediate to use in comparison to MPCs. Electribe's built-in effects blow away anything found inside MPCs. Electribes also win for its xox-style step sequencer.BlckJesus wrote:I didn't know that about the MPCs, so I guess there will be some things that the Electribe can do that the MPCs can't.bog wrote:One of the limitations of the MPC sequencer is that you have to stop the sequencer constantly just to make some adjustments.

Or a mpc1000/2500?destinationsound wrote:Hmmmm
Thanks guys. I usually take a 2 bar drum sample and cut it on the 8th notes, then play it in different patterns. That right there takes 16pads.
Guess my choices would be two electribes, or try something else...maybe the elektron sample for a whopping $1500 usd.

One of the sample players in Korg Gadget does that. I've used my electribe2 to trigger drum kits samples in Gadget like that with the iPad audio out to the electribe2 audio in assigned to a single part for filtering and effects or just plain audio thru. You can also load multiple instances of gadgets too.destinationsound wrote:I usually take a 2 bar drum sample and cut it on the 8th notes, then play it in different patterns.
