Electribe 2 Song Mode + Ableton Export Errors
Forgive me if these issues have already been answered in other threads. I've searched and found similar but not identical issues:
1) Has anyone heard confirmation that adding Song Mode can be expected in a future OS update? I've seen speculation in other threads, but wondered if anything more solid has surfaced.
2) I'm also getting .als files that can't be opened. When I first got the machine, the .als export worked just fine. Now, I get an error message on my computer instead of an opened file. I can still export .wav audio, so it hasn't halted my work, but I'd like to have a fully functional machine in case I decide to sell it and move on to another piece of gear. Doing a factory reset might fix it, but I can't lose my current patterns and sounds. I'm thinking of redoing the OS update instead, since doing that retained my saves last time.
Thanks in advance for any insights you can share.

Korg have been extremely tight-lipped about what a future OS update will include. All we know is that there will be a firmware update "soon" and some people have emailed support with complains and requests. A beta tester has promised a very exciting update, which we'd expect around the time of the sampler launch.Ars Phoenix wrote:Forgive me if these issues have already been answered in other threads.
Song Mode is one of those things that gets brought up a lot and I'm sure they're aware it's being talked about. But I wouldn't count on it - they might just have a different vision for the product.
For example: Not having 8 Bars seems to be a popular dealbreaker in comment sections, yet Korg put 4 physical bar buttons on the front panel and that's not going to change. Maybe note resolution will, giving people a workaround?
I have my own pet issues with the electribe (effect control and voicing, filter voicing, anti-aliasing too steep) but I'm not banking on them to change.
ALS export: There's pretty much no chance the electribe is kicking out corrupt files. It could be an issue with the card or your system - there's just no options to chose that would mess up the files. I'd try a new card first, then I'd start messing around in Live. Do you double-click or go to File/Open?
It wouldn't hurt to reinstall the OS, but I don't see what that would do. You already have the lasts OS - it does not go "bad" and if it did, the electribe would not boot up.

I had been double-clicking, but I just tried File/Open. I got the same message in Live: "[Unexpected Node 'Manual' (at line 20, column 35)]."
The same thing happened with 3 different cards. I think I'll install Live 9 Lite and see what happens (still running Live 8, at the moment).
If it does seem to just be my system, I don't have to worry about resale value and can just use .wav files, so I guess I'll be good to go in that regard.

The current panel layout is no excuse for NOT adding more bars. Navigating to additional 4 bars could be easily implemented with the shift button in combination with blinking LEDs.Ted3000 wrote:For example: Not having 8 Bars seems to be a popular dealbreaker in comment sections, yet Korg put 4 physical bar buttons on the front panel and that's not going to change.
I'd bet it's a version thing. There's a few threads on the Serato forums like this one:Ars Phoenix wrote:I had been double-clicking, but I just tried File/Open. I got the same message in Live: "[Unexpected Node 'Manual' (at line 20, column 35)]."

They could do it. They probably should do it. But will they?Tom 62 wrote: The current panel layout is no excuse for NOT adding more bars. Navigating to additional 4 bars could be easily implemented with the shift button in combination with blinking LEDs.
If there was a reason for a limit of 4 bars - or more importantly a lead team designer arguing for a limit of 4 - then we may be stuck with 4. Or maybe they keep four bars but double the note res for 4 bars of 32, giving us a half-tempo workaround that is actually usable and basically the same as 8 bars of 16.
I guess it depends if they're responsive to input. I hope they are. But even worse than keeping it as-is would be a bloated fan-service update that included way too much stuff, making things buggier and more complicated and with deeper menu dives.
A real hurdle is power. Did they include enough spare memory and processor cycles to include new features and more notes per pattern?
The StudioLogic Sledge just doubled the polyphony and added sampling via an OS update. Clearly they built a platform that was designed to grow. Did Korg think ahead?
So the questions are: Is the electribe maxed out or does it have enough elbow room for more features? Is the electribe team dictatorial or open? Will your pet issues be addressed or are they focused on someone else's?
I get the same on my full Abketon suite, works fine on Live Lite.Ars Phoenix wrote:I had been double-clicking, but I just tried File/Open. I got the same message in Live: "[Unexpected Node 'Manual' (at line 20, column 35)]."

I never use it, so I never update it. It's not a cracked copy.Tarekith wrote:Why not at least use the latest version of Live 8, which is 8.4.2 instead of 8.2.6?
Hmmm.... Odd that 8.2.6 is also the most common cracked version of Live too.
