Continuing adventures of my Kronos!

Post by aron »

OK, playing at Aulani (Disney Hotel). Early evening. We are playing - I see lots of "bugs". Turns out they are termites. You know where this is going.....

I'm playing, then I see the termite fly onto my slider and crawl inside! Where the heck is the felt dust covers for the sliders??? I watch in horror as it crawls in and then I start wondering how I am going to open this keyboard up when I get home?

More and more of them seem attracted by the LCD or something.... I have no idea. To make a long story short, right when I am irritated about the thought of having to take the keyboard apart --- the bug forces itself OUT of an adjacent slider! I think it had too much of the fan and heat maybe.

Anyone have another story like this? I assume the lack of felt means the sliders are used as vents for the CPU - but imagine the next step.... drops of rain into the slider openings.

I can well imagine your thoughts at that time regarding the invader…..not something I would like to see happen to anyone.

On a silly note…..(my sense of humour ??….sorry).

At least there was only the one and because it was seen to emerge soon after, you can take some comfort that there's no dead matter inside your Kronos for it to feed on…..

Playing in the rain isn't recommended because it could make the Kronos produce a gurgled sound as it fills up with water….unless you drill a drain hole underneath.

I'm sure you're going to get similar "humouros" posts from other members….so be prepared….for a laugh. :D

Best Wishes.

That is the biggest problem with gigging in Hawaii. It can rain anytime even when it's bright and sunny. It's usually a brief passing shower, but it can be challenging.

I am going to mirror the patches on my Korg onto my PC361. I think it's more robust against the rain/bugs! Just use the Korg for inside gigs!

The other day we were playing on the beach at Waikiki and the guitarist's iPad turned off due to temperature! Then the bass player's bass amp turned off as well. COOL!

Aron, my wife and I stayed at Aulani in March. I should have tried to look up you to see where you were playing. Maybe next time.

Hahah, I just read that post!

I really need to start mirroring the patches on my PC3 just in case.
