Simple Volca through Alesis Multimix issue
Just got my alesis multimix 8fx to put my volcas through. I'm plugging each Volca unit into the Multimix line 1, 2, and 3. I'm getting tons of hissing and have to put the multimix and the volca unit to the max to get a low volume and extremely hissing output. What's the deal? This should be a simple input /output situation. Just thought I'd throw this out here in case someone is using the same-ish type setup even though this is probably an issue with the multimix. Everything works perfectly on my ultra basic audio technica mixer.
I used to have one of these mixers (the six channel version) and from what I remember, it's the effects section that generates most of the noise. You want to keep the effects level as low as possible, then use the "AUX" knobs for each channel to balance in the effects louder.

yes its the cords. Make sure you use Mono 1/4 on mixers. The inputs are not designed to handle stereo, hence the noise.Lazlo Panaflex wrote:The cord situation seems to be at fault. Everything works fine when I use a mono cord for the output. This is the same issue I was experiencing with they sync except the other way around. I needed to be using stereo cords for the sync.
