can my amp work with korg kronos x's sound
hey I have a crate amp that is split in 3 sections, Clean, Overdrive, and High Gain would that be ok for the korg kronos x or would I need an amp that isn't split in sections like that.

That sounds like it's a guitar amp, which would be a bad idea for the Kronos. Guitar amps, by nature, impart a lot of "color" on the sound, and have limited frequency response. For the Kronos (or any keyboard or other hi-fi sound source), the general rule is the more neutral the amp/speaker the better.

What amp do you have? Like SanderXpander said guitar amps tend to color the sound. I have a peavey Triple XXX and the clean channel is great the range through the amp is good enough but it does color the sound. You would need a nice neutral wide range speaker, I would think, for best result, but you still may be dissatisfied. Find out what speakers you have now and google the specs and frequency response of them to see how compatible they would be for the Kronos. Does this particular crate have a line out or DI built in?

Sure, but in most cases, the sound quality won't be quite as good as the modern crop of active monitors/PA. Often, the benefit of a keyboard amp is multiple inputs for running several keyboards/module through it, as well as a direct out for FOH. But most active monitors have 2 inputs and direct outs, anyway. Guys who need more than 2 inputs are now more often using a small mixer with active monitors rather than a keyboard amp, due to sound quality.

If i were you take some time and thoroughly research this issue .And be careful some sales person (ignorant ) sells you the wrong thing.A example would be a amp that is not compatible with the speaker where the watts are the same but the ohms are not the same.Of coarse many PAs have the amp and speaker consolidated in one unit. When i went to the Music center in Kenosha Wi they were demonstrating the kronos on a Roland KC550.I am know expert at this and after reading some other posts on the forum i am considering up grading to a PA . Is there any on the forum that can give us a very concise and informative detailed reason on what to buy.
cheers crow feather

There have been many reviews and a lot of discussion on the musicplayer forums on this subject. The ones I listed in my first post are the ones that consistently come out on top for a reasonable price range.
Some sounds might be ok on a keyboard amp, but in particular, for piano, the sound is night and day difference on a good active monitor. I'm personally using a QSC K10, but like I said, the Yamaha and EV equivalents are widely used. There are also good offerings for a higher price from RCF and Line6.
