SMD, sorry. No, i can't help there. All the info about the koma elektroniks mods are on that page you linked, they were the first to publish the mods i think.
To be honest i don't use the volca, it doesn't interest me.
I modded it because i was unsatisfied with it as standard & it did sound better ,especially being able to separate out the hats & sharpen them up but there's not much to gain from doing any more to it. I doubt i will ever use it.

Like i said, the link you posted has the answer. Individual bass drum out. Personally i thought it looked to fiddly but if you are good with a soldering iron with a fine tip..

Blackout has a great snare mod that 'fixes' the snare noise. Also hat triangle mod:

Best place to get the output for the bass drum is from the pot leg, I think it is the 3rd leg on the decay pot, you can test by connecting a cable to a speaker, make sure that you ground the Volca to the speaker, then touch the other end of the cable on the pot leg and you should hear it (obviously make sure the Volca is playing the bass drum!)

Yes, there is a trick, to get just kick or just snare. And all you need are the labeled points – you don't have to solder to SMD parts to get them.

The official Korg-labeled outputs (as printed on the PCB) include:
  • TOM
    TOM + SNARE
    TOM + SNARE + KICK
So, if you need to isolate snare or kick...

SNARE = (TOM + SNARE) - (TOM)

and

KICK = (TOM + SNARE + KICK) - (TOM + SNARE)

Subtraction in this case means to sum the two channels in a mixer, but flip the polarity (aka "phase reverse" or "ø") on the second channel. Granted, it's not as convenient for playing live shows as just having an isolated KICK output would be, but it's easy enough to do in the studio.

cheers,
