Looking for a studio MIDI controller...
Narrowed my choices down to a Kurzweil 2600S or PC3 LE7
Seems like the 2600 has better controllers / ribbons, sliders...anyone chime in as per their reliability?

M3, Radias R, Kurzweil PC3LE, EMU Proteus 1000, EMU Proteus 2000 (three of 'em) EMU Proteus 2500, , Alesis QS6, Alesis QS7.1 (2 of them, 'cause I use them as midi controllers and I prefer their keyboard action), MPK 61, love the buttons / sliders etc but not liking the action. I had a PC3-61, and it was one of the best built keyboards I owned, solid construction, but on the downside, heavy. Sometimes heavy things don't survive well, as the are usually banged around more.
It had great sounds, I just could get into the VAST programming to fully utilize it, so it became redundant and I sold it. I still miss some of the sounds. The accessory, long pressure stripe, is really cool, It did not secure well, had to use double sided tape.
The PC7 LE is of different construction.

I still have and regularly use my K2500. The K2600 is the 2500 with every option installed along with more modern SIMMS and electronics and the Triple-Strike piano, which was hailed as the best piano in its day.
If you want to sample, the S is the way to go, but on any Kurz K2xxx you can load samples and use them in sounds.
It's a heavy beast, but there is simply no deeper synthesizer extant when it comes to programming. the reason there has been no successor, is - IMHO - even Kurzweil is having difficulty coming up with the next step- it was that deep.
The final decision is whether you need a synth, or a preset board.
Just make sure if you decide on the 2600 that you get the PRAM option- 1000 programs and combinations makes it really worthwhile.

Thanks a bunch. I'm really leaning towards the K2600s. It's for a home studio so I'm not gonna be humping it all around everywhere.
