Controlling Korg M1 with Korg Kronos
Hey guys,
I'm wanting to Control the sounds of my M1 with my Kronos, as in have the M1 a part of my combinations in a live set up. I love the sounds of the M1 and some of the keys have become sticky and controlling it as part of my layers and splits on my kronos would be the best scenario.
My questions are... is this even possible and if so, how can I go about setting up the kronos to control the M1?

If you want to add an M1 sound to one of your Kronos Combi slots you would set one slot up as EXT. The program of that slot set to call up the correct M1 sound. Make the M1 and the EXT slot MIDI channels match.
You could also use the M1 in its combi mode allowing multiple sounds available in to the Kronos. Might start with the above first and get that working.

I've tried setting up one of the Timbres in my kronos Combination as ext2 to control the M1 however nothing happens, it doesn't trigger the M1 at all and both the global midi channel of the M1 and the midi channel of selected timbres are on the same channel. Could it be that it's because I'm using an M-audio midi uno as the midi interface between both keyboards?

Alright I used a regular MIDI cable and that seemed to do the trick. Now another question. I have an Akai MPK49 plugged into my Kronos to control sounds on the kronos. The MPK49 is on Midi channel 2 and my M1 is on MIDI channel 3. My question is, when I switch to a combination I create, is there anyway that I could control the M1 with the MPK49 without having to change any of the global MIDI channel with any of the boards?

controlling M1 from kronos
Hi could you explain how you got the M1 working try the kronos.
I have the same set up for live playing. I love my M1 and the kronos is just amazing. I only use maybe 3 or 4 sounds from the M1 but would be so fantastic to bring some kronos sounds tru M1.
Thanks in advance.
