Yamaha C2. Insights please

Post by JuneauUnderground »

I know this is a Kronos forum, BUT, there a lot of smart folks here that I trust and they know what they are talking about. I got a line on a C2, price is right, condition is excellent, it's not a beater. I know I have to spend some time with it to see if its tone suits me. I understand the shorter baby grands, especially Yamaha's tend to be a little bright. Any other insights?

Yes indeed! I just back from playing it. Holy cannoli, it's fabulous, not a C7 by any means, but damn fine nonetheless. I was surprised at how much cajones it has in the lower end! Now to come up with the $$.

Just make sure you can put it in a temperature controlled environment where you can control the humidity also...They don't hold up near as well as our Kronos with tuning and such if they aren't in a controlled environment....Same thing goes for my DW drums....It's hard to beat an acoustic instrument when you want to hear and feel all the nuances...Good luck....moon

Same action as the C7. That means that if you like it. get it, as it will have the feel that is excellent.

My violin teacher has a C6 for his son - a budding Classical pianist - that every time I sit down to play, I'm transported back to my Piano Major days at college.

I have a G3, predecessor of the C3. Also great. I love Yamaha. So if the price is Ok and its in good shape, it's a winner.
