Used Wavedums, advice?

Post by grokostimpy »

First post, thanks for reading!

I'm planning on buying a used wavedrum. I've been reading up on wavedrummer's awesome advice on how to tension and replace the head. I just want to make sure that there's not really any risk in buying a used wavedrum. I plan on replacing the head first thing, and I understand that the sensors cannot really be damaged by head replacement or normal use, right?

Also, I love the "oriental" version, but the prices are SO much higher... like double!! Can the normal silver version's user programs be edited to get similar sounds as the oriental? (such as the hang-drum challenge thread points out?)

I'm not a professional, I just like to play in my office. But I am a fan of middle eastern and bollywood style music. Does anyone here think the oriental is really worth the high prices?

Thanks for the help!

no damage for the sensors possible when you change the head

with a Silver you would be missing 9 extra Algorithms
and 2 x 40 + "oriental" samples
both can not be substituted by editing .(maybe a few samples)
some Ori sounds ?

here are the 9 Ori algorithms

300 for a used Silver against 600 for an Oriental ?
seems a good price for a Silver
Used Orientals ? not so many ...
check the DC and the headphone jacks for good contact ...
and be careful when you play on the lap

worth the high price ?
dunno , if you really like the Eastern stuff , then ...yes

up to you
