Kronos Wish List!

Ability to turn pitch bend smoothing off.
I want pitch bend turned on but I don't want abrupt changes in pitch bend to be smoothed which is what the Kronos does, so with a trill on the guitar the pitch bend info sent to the Kronos would look like a square wave, the Kronos is converting this to a triangle wave before applying this modulation to the pitch.
I Have not quite worked out the exact algorithm it uses for this but it only seems to effect smaller jumps in pitchbend.
With a midi guitar you split the pitch bend range to 24 semitones, 12 up and 12 down so a semitone is approximately a change of 682 pitch bend values so a trill of a semitone like this causes the smoothing.
To get semitone trills to work correctly I can set the pitch bend range to 8, 4 up and 4 down (2048 pitch bend change for a semitone) on the guitar/midi convertor and then the Kronos doesn't do its smoothing of the pitch bend data and all sounds ok. Unfortunately this then effects the effective slide range on the guitar to 4 semitones up or down before the convertor will trigger a new note as there is no pitch bend range lest, which is not good!
Also the smoothing always effects slides on the guitar and sounds very unrealistic as the pitch the Kronos plays is always lagging behind what you play on the guitar.
Cheers
Andy

I love the Kronos. It's so much better than my last two boards ( M3 and Fantom G) but I have one wish;
Low power mode or standby.
I would like to be able to leave my Kronos turned on 24/7 so that I could capture those moments of inspiration which often occur in the middle of the night. Sadly the K is quite a hungry beast and I feel guilty leaving it on over night.
Yeah I know, TIGHT WAD !,,
I don't suppose this could be done using the current Kronos hardware but maybe a good idea for the next one.

I think it is only software, however if it is not inside the Linux distribution used for the Kronos then it might take quite some development time.Niblit wrote: I don't suppose this could be done using the current Kronos hardware but maybe a good idea for the next one.

From David Letterman's "Get Smart" quiz: one of the following four statement is unreal for the Korg Kronos wish list request.........
Transpose range (in Global mode) from -12 to +12 is poor for the 61 keys version.
Midi out PRG change command is slow in combi mode (used it with Oasys and the same external module and it was almost immediate)
Combi load with multiple option from internal disk is very slow (compared to Oasys)
Would like to be able make an espresso with the Kronos, just like the new Fiat 500L.

in the way that you can hold enter and press a key and instantly assign that key and velocity to a parameter (in the key zone velocity section)
It would be a nice addition to hold enter (or any other key) and then move a slider or turn a knob and be taken immediately to the parameter and menu screen in which it is assigned.
great idea huh?

At this time, these are my wishes.
New engines:
Simmons SDS8 Drum Synth clone engine.
Brass & Wind instrument Engine.
Modular style engine similar to Arturia Origin,
where you can choose between different emulations of Korg filters, oscillator types etc to build your own Korg.
Software:
A New plugin Editor that works more smoothly.
Firmware:
Category search by Engine type.
Make it happen Korg!

I will add this to PCG Tools ... it is not really a big problem to create such a list.robinkle wrote:At this time, these are my wishes.

In a PCG file there is a parameter that shows which engine is used (actually 2 of them per program). Currently I don't support this parameter yet but it will not be difficult to find it out in the MIDI exclusive documentation.apex wrote:how would PCG tools identify each engine?michelkeijzers wrote:I will add this to PCG Tools ... it is not really a big problem to create such a list.robinkle wrote:At this time, these are my wishes.

Btw, when I said I will add this, I meant in the wish list, meaning don't expect me to start on it too soon (I have other plans too).

Wishlist - Real Time Clock display in setlist mode
This should be an easy one.
Since the Kronos has a real time clock, place the TIME in the setlist mode page at the bottom center of the screen.
It would come in handy when you are playing a gig and are told to play till a certain time, but dont have a watch handy.

Two hopefully simple requests.
The ability to reduce the volume of release samples (keyoff) over time. Currently, the keyoff is triggered at the same volume regardless of the time elapsed, so if , for example, you strike a loud chord, hold the sustain pedal for 10 seconds and let up, you will get a loud release sample. I've never found any tricks to make this work properly. Korg is aware of this issue as both the SGX-1 and EP-1 handle this correctly.
Would be nice if there was an option in the CX-3 engine to disable the sustain pedal hold function but still allow it to work as a switch for the Leslie fast/slow.
