Broken USB Socket - manufacturing problem...

Post by Mahalo »

A month ago the USB socket on the microSTATION stopped working - in any case I suddenly had urgent work on jazz piano for unexpected gigs so the microSTATION remained shelved until now.

Bought it new in New Zealand 30 December or was it 29, so it was faulty within 2 months. However it seems my cheapest and most practical solution, living in Cambodia, is to forget Korg's warranty and simply buy a duplicate microSTATION for GBP300 when I get to Europe in 10 days time and start over.

It would probably cost more than a new model to get it shipped anywhere for Korg service and I certainly cannot spare it for more than a couple of days with the work I need to do programming it, which is now overdue and urgent. Thank goodness that I can dump all data onto the SD card and take that with me to Europe!

Incidentally I did contemplate opening up the box to resolder the USB myself but... ... anyone advise which of those many screws are safe to undo without damaging it?
