You have to just love the old Genesis stuff from the golden days of progressive rock. I'm glad to see that there is finally and has been for several years a resurgence of music and plying of this calibre.
Just out of curiosity, what prog bands do any of you like these days?

I don't know about resurgence - I started my Genesis tribute in 2003!jeremykeys wrote:You have to just love the old Genesis stuff from the golden days of progressive rock. I'm glad to see that there is finally and has been for several years a resurgence of music and plying of this calibre.

I realize they split up a while back, but Spocks Beard had some good chops. Snow was a good concept album, IMO.jeremykeys wrote:You have to just love the old Genesis stuff from the golden days of progressive rock. Actually Spock's Beard haven't split up. Neal Morse left but the rest of the band has kept on going. As far as I know they have a new album coming out shortly. They are one of my current favourite bands still carrying the prog flag.

Riiiiight, I stand corrected. I have the first post-Neal album. There's a couple good tunes on there. Interested to see if they can put anything together of the impact and quality as when Morse was there.jeremykeys wrote:Actually Spock's Beard haven't split up. Ooops. I thought they had a new CD coming out but it's a live one from the latest tour.

I have several of their CD's and I like them all. Too bad the band isn't more popular. Don't understand that at all.
We're you ever into Gentle Giant?

Gentle Giant was a prog band from the 70's. Difficult to describe as they sound was all over the place. They tended to do a lot of contrapuntal music and at times had a bit of a medieval sound. Very good though.

Hi guys,
3 of the original GG members are on tour these days. Their band is called Three Friends. I saw them last year(or was it 2 years ago?), quite a music lesson to see those guys play. Sorry i can't upload directly on this site as i got an image of me and guitarist Gary Green. Needless to say, quite a moment in my life!! And the guy is a genuine great guy...
